87 iroc 305 tpi, thats what i have and when ever i get money (to many bills) i usually just get a performance part for it. I did just complete a 4th gen rear swap. I got real lucky with the rear. It came with good brakes, calipers, rotors, LCA's a new posi and 4.11 gears (i know, they are too much) all for $100, which was in my price range category, so i had to pick it up. My car isn't really suitable for shows or meets, i mean it hauls good enough for me, but i don't know how i would be able to hang with some people, never really ran anyone. I just love the car to death, i work on it and try to do what i can when i have money. I wanna swap in an L98, but i don't knopw where to look for one in our area. Things i have done to my car soo far are only some edelbriock tes headers, and the rearswap. Been having a lot of problenms with it, but i fix them everytime. I would like to meet you sometime, like at the dedham mall, where ever, just as long as i know how to get there. Would be real cool to have a camaro buddie, everyione where i live all own **** and thats its. Seems like your maro is gonna be real badass, maybe you could help me out, i could sure use it.

Sure man, I am allways willing to help. I am gonna need some extra hands to toss in my 383 soon. I live like 5 minutes from the dedham mall. If you ever need help with anything let me know. Whatever it is, chances are I have taken it appart and know how to fix it. I have a good amount of experince with buying cheap parts too. You could def find an L98 someplace around here. Not to sure where, but if you go to car shows in the area, there are allways guys that know guys that know guys that can help you out. I have a buddy that has a camaro he wants to rebuild, and it has a built up 305 putting out easily what a 350 does, actually more. And there is a slight chance he is selling it, but he's on vacation right now, so when he gets back, we can all meat up and talk and see who can help whom..,.

You guys wanna meat up someplace? I live in Needham on the border with Dedham. Pretty much a 45 second drive from exit 18 off 95. My car is being built there. I don't have a huge house of garadge, but I do have a crap load of tools, and a long driveway. If we went there, we could talk and stuff, maybe get some work done, if somebody needs something, and who knows, maybe be able to start a local camaro club......Let me know who is interested.

Really man? You stop for gas? You should come to the garage sometime. I work at the State Inspection Bay. Im not driving it to much anymore, i have to send it to this guy to detail it. But yea its park in front of the Mobil Station next to the big Gas Price sign sometimes. Thats sweet though man, Ive seen a not many 91-92 Z28s around here. Ive seen a white one with window louvers and a Red one. Thats it. We deff need to do a meetup sometime

Nice let me know when a good time to meat up would be. i work everyday till about 4 so i get home around 5. And I never work saturday. I have another buddy that has an 87 he wants to build up. I wish I could drive mine up to your place now. Oh well won't be done till the fall if I am super lucky. Might have to wait till spring.

But yeah I DEFINETLY notice your car whenever it is out there. I live right up that street, once you cross into Needham. We should gather up whomever we can and meat up at my house on Saturday or something. I am gonna need a helping hand prety soon when I get my motor, it would be nice to have help from camaro guys rather than my friends that can't pump their own gas.

I work on it anyday I can. Haven't had many lately esspecially with the new girlfriend. Oh well I plan on workin on it today actaully. If you are around, feel free to swing by at anytime. I will PM you my address and cell #. later.

-Dennis

I honestly have no idea what it is. It was on my car when I got it. I know it is flowmaster. But thats it. It is just about as loud as anyone would want it to be, with a stock motor. I have no idea how much to chrage if I was gonna sell just the cat back, i will get back to you. You can take a better look at it when you swing by too.

I got a moser 12 bolt, from spohn.com.....talked to the tech guys, they say it is good for over 900 hp, lol, so i think i am good.

I don't have the 383 yet, i sent out the check for it last saturday!
So exited. I am getting the first pics of it being made soon. By far the most expensive thing i have bought, EVER. Got an increadible deal from a guy I found on these forums. thebigwelsh is his name. All forged full roller moter with all the goodies in it, goes for about 8 grand, I am paying 6300 which includes shipping. The 8 grand doesn't.

Hopefully the rear will be in soon, I am gonna work on getting those seals I need tonight after work.

You will see it all on saturday, hehe.

I am soooo happy to finally be able to start doing these kinds of major mods. I got the car in highschool and drove it for about 2 years. I have been restoring/modding everything for the part 3 years. So thats how long it has been since I have drivin it Oh well, it will all be worth it when it is done.

Damn, that is awesome man. I can't wait til i'm able to do some major mods... wait swapping a rearend is major mod, right? I'll probably be in the same boat as you dennis, drive the car around for a while, modding it hear and there, and when i ready for the big stuff, i'll tackle it. I'm buying an LT1 cam later this week from a friend, i was wonderinf what else would i need (besides replacement gaskets and stuff) to help the performance of the cam? So far i've heard 1.6 roller rockers and better springsm whcih are on my list. Would a better intake manifold and some hi-flow runners also help for better performance with the 305tpi? I plan to see what i can do with this motor before i move onto bigger and better things. Dennis, you may be my new role model.

hehe. I am glad I can help I have been waiting years to be able to do this kinda thing.... I am sure that cam will really wake up your motor. As for things that it need, you seem to know it all. cam/rockers/spings and so on. A shop might just end up recomending that you change more stuff too, like springs and new retainers and such. I have never done it b 4, so I do not know what is absolulty needed.

As for the rear being a "major" mod. For the most part no, if it was putting a girdle on it or maybe some superior alloy shafts, but buying a 2300 dollar 12 bolt, for me that is a "major" mod, mainly cuz that is MAJOR $ in my eyes. hehe.

I had a 305 TPI before I ripped the car appart. It ran nice and strong and really responded to an increase in fuel pressure. abviosly better air filters are a must and just making sure it is in tip top shape, does wonders.

Now all I have left of it is the bare block sitting in my driveway. lol. massive paper wieght.

I figured it wasn'r really cuz it was knida easy, but yeah if you spend major $, i consider it a major mod. The most i spent of the car thus far would be the headers, $500, and that was my whole paycheck, it sucked, i was broke for two weeks, but my car was hauling! You do welding and the body stuff? If so, maybe you could teach me how to do that stuff, i'm afriad for the simple fact that i only have one car, and it would be hard for me to get another for budget problems. Also, i hope you won;t laugh at my car, i'm trying to get looking real nice. It does need some cosmetics, my louvers look really old, i have no healiner, due to t-tops leaks, paint is on it way. I hope you guys can steer me in the right direction, can't wait to see your car dennis. I went to your cardomain sight and it looks very clean.

Don't worry man, no one is gonna laph at anything. We are here to help eachother out, this is an expensive hobby, if you can call it that, hehe.

yeah you don't wanna mess up your only car. This is my only car too, hehe. I just don't have a ride now. I borrow the parents' car or friends drive me where i need to go these days, and for the last 3 years.

I am not welding guru, but I can lay a bead. It is really easy to learn. I can show you, no prob. I have gotten way better sice I did the bars in my car. Wish I was as good as I am now, then. Oh well the welds are still strong. Just not pretty. I fixed a hole in my buddies camaro's floor. Welding upside down sux.

As for body stuff, I have very limited experience with that stuf, but I am gonna learn in the next month or so. Gonna buy a book and read it twice and go at it. Thats how I have learned everything up to this point. I got plenty of camaro books you can take a look at, and a welding book. More like handbooks, with tons of pics. Great for learning fast.

My buddy who had a whole in his floor, just finished reading my fav book, he loved it. Too bad his car is off the road for now. You will meat him on Saturday, (Vadim is his name)

Vadim is selling some stuff from his car, maybe you guys can talk.

Later man.

Definitely will be able to make it now, fixed the stalling problem, it was rather simple, but really stupid on my part. The MAF was blocked off by tape (which i was using temperarly(sp) to hold it in place with the dual air fliter thing) so my cars was just shutting off. It's all corrected now, i'm gonna call dennis up on friday, to get an idea where i'm heading, i know how to get to the dedham mall, but thats about it.

Nice, I guess I will see what it sounds like tomorrow.

I am getting my axle seals today in the mail, if I am lucky, and need to get my bearings pressed onto my axles. if all goes as planned I will have the rear in tomorrow
