Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

I am making a master list of people, their online name, car, phone #, and e-mail address so we can finally start seeing who is IN! and who is out of this club. right now I have 5 people that I have all the info to -a couple e-mails that don't really matter.

Then there is 3 maybe online names: Badass355ciz28,vingta1989, and 85Firebird350. There are a LOT more guys locally that are interested that I just haven't gotten around to getting their info. I will do my best this weekend. With a little effort we can get up to 10 guys all crusin' the streets an our way up to Riley's. Or even have our own section!! This will be great. Keep up the work you guys and get your cars on the road ASAP.

Later,

- Dennis

I will be 100% committed once my car is done and on te roads again. I am deffinately interested in a f-body club I just have to finish my car and everything and get this thing going again. Once I'm done with that I'll deffinately be a regular. If you want my name and number and stuff send me a PM or something and I'll give it to you. I can be the young one of the group, I'm only 19.

Haha, hey you two... You can both be the young ones. LOL. Most of us are not ever 24. I am only 23. The 2 Nicks are 18 and 20 I think.

Everyone is young! Anyways, hopefully we can get some good tech help from eachother even though we are a fresh crowed. I have learned a LOT from building my car from the ground up and am learning more from a local friend who drives a 1000+ HP chevelle around.

OK, I will be sending the PM now.

Yeah I've learned alot from bulind this engine from the ground up. Many good things I have learned. I guess I wont feel out of place after all, I thought everyone was older. Not a bad engine to start with a 406sbc though.

Not bad at all. I have yet to build a motor. I also didn't paint my car, but everything else I did myself. I am a few C.I. smaller than you. I have a 386. Can't wait to see how yours runs. How far are you from being done? I wanna go up to the dyno sometime this month and am looking for company.

I got another 400sbc virgin bore engine I might be selling. It's all complete from pan to the origional 2bbl carb.

I'm about a month or so away from finishing it. Once everything is together theres gonna be a lot of testing and tuning of this engine. Can you do my timing Steve?

Alright sounds good. I met you the other night at Dunks. I was talking to you right before you left, that car sounds nice with a true dual exhaust.

Well I know I am working this weekend and every weekend for a while but this job should be gone soon and then I'll stick to just working weekdays. Hopefully by the spring we can have a really nice gathering and go to local cruises as a group, maybe a dyno day and stuff. I know I wanna put my car on one once its done.

p.s. stock 882 heads flow like **** even when theyre ported and polished.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Yeah dyno days will be the best.

As for the heads... I am sorry to hear that, haha. How come you went with those heads? You had them when you started the build?

I run Kenny Dewinter Trickflow Al. heads. Very cost effective way to get some Al. heads that flow pretty well.

People RAVE about AFR, but I just didn't have the $ for them when I was building my motor. I am thinking maybe next year I will slap them on if the benifits are really worth it. I hear they aren't if I am keeping this just a street car. Which it is and should always be as far as I can tell.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Yeah they are the heads that came on the car.A guy my dad knows gave me a good deal on a nice port job to free up some kind of power. I didn't and still dont quite have the money for a set of nice aluminum heads but when I do get some they will be AFR heads most likely the 210cc race readies. Should go on this winter, and I'm thinking about going from the RPM manifold to the victor jr. Hopefully my stock tranny and 10bolt will last, lol.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

I will cross my fingers for you, cuz I would bet my car they won't. But good luck.

Be carefull with those 210s, you don't want to have heads that only flow great with a monster cam and revving up to 8 grand. But I dunno what you wanna do with the car. I hear 195s are the way to go for the street. Generally RACE stuff doesn't do well on the street. I havea Vic. Jr intake on my car right now. They wanna REV UP, to make power. Its fun, but something to def take into account.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Well the cam I'm going with is a Lunati voodoo solid roller with .600/.600 lift with 1.5 rockers and I'm going with 1.6 so max lift will be around .630, so the 210 heads would work really well I want my car to be a serious street/ strip car. My goal it to run 10's N/A with this car and then slap on a procharger f-1 in the far future.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Holly Sheet! You wanna runs 10's N/A!??!! AND BE STREETABLE!

What is your def of streetable? Power brakes? what tranny you gonna run? Stuff like that. I plan on being able to dip into the 10s with the spray, but I am a street car, so its not such a big deal for me. But geez that motor is gonna REALLY wanna scream. Only thing is that your idle and Low RPM TQ will suffer a lot from that, and it will be a dog on gas.

I am trying to stay in the mid teens with MPG, before I didn't care, when i was building the car, but after 1500 miles with the car freshly done. I CARE NOW!! I drive it to work everyday if i can, and on the highway I get even better than that.

I am def not trying to say you are crazy for wanting to do what you are saying, but I am just trying to get a better perspective of what kinda car you want this to be, like what is it use going to be?

Serious street/strip is kinda broad. You want a street legal drag racer, or a hot street car that does well at the strip. You will find that as you go there is a HUGE difference.

Drag racers are built to break and be rebuilt and not go 100,000 miles, where as a street car generaly is. The kinda car you can still take out to pick something up at 7/11.

My car is just a nice street car that that will do respectably at the strip.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Well by streetable I meanthat I want to be able to drve it when I want to and not hate doing it.I know my engine combo is going to be pretty wild but for what I want it'll be possible. 10's N/A isnt impossible for my car, the whole suspension is basically going tubular from spohn and the interior is going to be all stripped except for the dash, carpets and front seats. I need to check the rule book but a roll cage is going in too. This will all happen within the next 2 years or so. Right now I want to get the engine back in the car and drive the car as is for now. Over the winter theres going to be a H/C/maybe intake swap. The tranny is going to be either a built 700r4 unit of a built 4l65e tranny. I want to keep the OD to try and keep it somewhat in line on the street.

My plans are to run with a certain chevelle that steve and f-boby know. I want to be able to be as fast as Jesse and his fatblockvelle.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Well if you get your car to go that fast lemme know. Cuz what you are saying your car is going to have. My car has right now. All tube suspention, k-member, a-arms, TQ arm, panhard bar, trailing arms, and I havea Moser 12 Bolt with 4.11s. Long tube headers and 4" exhaust. I just got my bottle heater yesterday so hopefully soon I will be tunning my 150-200 shot. And for now I think I am going to run Summitomo tires, just for the price and them get a cheap set of rear rims like maybe 10" that will have REALLY sticky drag slicks on them. But that will be this fall if not I will wait till next summer.

I know what you mean by pushing the steetable limit. I have a big cam and make a lot of noise, but in the end I can still drive around and love it. I have acctually taken it to a couple of parties on the weekend to show friends. I usually leave it at home after dark due to the noise.

But anyways, I installed the new Ignition. IT IS AMASING!!!!

It better be though for 750 bucks. Runs smooter, faster and not rich anymore. GREAT BUY. Car feels more like a Vette now than it did before, revving up real fast and coming back down SMMMOOOOOTTTHHHHH

I want to be able to hit 10's thats my dream right now. I would prefer to do it N/A but maybe I'll just build a decent engine with a supercharger. Doing 10's with a sbc is hard from what everyone is telling me.

Yes, yes it is. Not only that but getting the power to the ground is HARD. 10s are fast. Maybe with slicks, but then you have to run BULLETPROOF everything.

My moser axle alone was 2200, a my T-56 is my weakest link and that was around 2300. If that was built to take the power, add another 1000, then there is the small stuff like the DS and hopefully the engine won;t break under its own power. In other words forged everything.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Time to go reading. I think I'll just build my engine to the best it can be N/A and go from there, probably in the 11's?. I see a call to Procharger in the near future. I wanted to do a t56 swap in my car but then the seller pooned out and didnt sell everything. One thing that worried me is that I would need the special flywheel for my engine to get the t56 to hook up right and it's expensive like 400+ for the flywheel.

Yeah, i got SUPER lucky and bought my tranny from a guy who allready had the special fly, short throw, new hyrolics and shipped from texas for 2300. It was a crazy deal that I couldn't pass up. Thats one of the reasons why I went with it. If you wait/get lucky/look hard, you may find one. I just made a thread on here about the T-56 and wanting it, and BAM. Got one

I almost got everything except the flywheel for $1100 and the guy was going to help install it since it's already in his thirdgen. It woulda been a sweet deal but he pooned out and isnt selling it because he's putting a ls1 in his car now. I would be doing so much of this if I had gotten it!

Well I think I'm doing a t-5 swap and then going to a tko500 later down the road. It's cheap 400 for everything including 2 clutches. One to practice on and another new one. Should last a month or two.

easy Iv'e got a tool box that cost me more and is worth more ten both of my cars put toegether. and paying for it is like a car payment. I'can't keep puttin money into my toys and nothing else as ive been doing for the past 2 years. Priorities change. I may or may not end up sellin the black one but i have a LOT of interest in it from people around me so if someone walks up with the right offer its prolly gonna be gone. and i NEED to get rid of my GTA and get somekinda truck for the winter. As much fun as driving that thing in the snow might be its not exactly practical by any means.

Too bad to hear you might have to sell. Sounds like some expensive tools you got there.

I hopeeverything works out for you dude. That does sound like some expensive tools though. So hows good is this club forming dennis? Go to newengland-motorsports.com and see if anyone is interested on there.

I am busy at work. I know Tj is already a part of that other board, I am hoping he takes it upon himself to recurit over there. If anyone else is on other boards, feel free to tell people about the club. Don't just leave it all up to me.

Last Sat was good. Tj, Nick and I hung out at my house for a while. I installed my N20 bottle hearer and Nick detailed his car. Then we drove 17 miles to Riley's. Ate, saw cool cars and crusied home. Good Sat, nice weather, can't wait to do it again.

yeah it was a great time on saturday. hopefully tommorow i will be getting my new flowmaster exhaust and chrome tips installed at lou's custom exhaust in waltham. i am going on vacation next week but hopefully i'll be able to make it for a cruise to riely's beacuase once i get back from vacation i'm going straight to college and probably taking the car off the road and starting some restoration. so.... im hoping to get in one last weekend at rielys before i go to school.

anyways anyone who hasn't seen dennis's car should really come down and join us this saturday. there's nothing like cruising around in a bunch of souped-up thirdgens and then parking together and turning a few heads

Sounds good. Yeah Sat was fun. I ordered some more stuff for my car yesterday so hopefully I will have it all by Fri. Should make the car run a little stronger, we will see. Hopefully I will not be stuck doing wiring on Sat again. I really wanna just wash and wax, and take my time.

Oh well, like 86midnightblue said, more people should come on down.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Hey anyone who reads this thread!!! I am going to trek ALLLL the way down to CT to try and meet up with the guys down there. I have been talking with them and they have 6-9 thirdgens going to a Denny's down there tonight from 6-9. I am leaving work early to try and make it. It will cost me like 2 tanks of gas probably, haha and 1.5 hours of driving, just one way, but I think it will be worth it.

I talked to them and they said they would be interested in joining up with us and making a more broad club, and maybe meeting someplace in between here and there. That would make the drive only 45 min. Not bad at all, and we would finally have start having a decent group, like in the teens. Should be sick. They are very optimistic and motivated to get this thing HUGE, like super chevy show recognition and our own section, like other major clubs. so everyone

GET YOUR CARS ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, lol.

Hell yeah. I am going to Riley's. The weather is supposed to be PERFECT tomorrow and I will be home early like 10, to start working on the car (just cleaning this time) So that we can go early and get some sweet spots. Maybe go there at around 2:45 and spend all day there. Should kick ***. I am gonna call everyone on the list to see if I can get some others over my place or to Riley's.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

I would go if I could get my damn car on the road. Should be any day now though. Engine is back in the car and I hopefo fire her up early next week and get her timed and tuned better. Maybe a dyno trip in the future for better tuning?

See this is why I made the other board it's dedicated to thirdgen in new england and would be a good place to post up pics and get togethers and stuff. There are 8 members on there already hopefully we can double that.

Alright, I will tell the CT guys. They will join probably if I tell them that it is our clubs forum.

If you wanna wait till I am going to the dyno, I will be heading there around the end of this month.

Hey Boston crew...so we had a first time meet last Friday (6 cars total) in Vernon, CT (thanks for atleast trying to make it Dennis.) We're looking to meet up with your guys in another meet (near future?). We're looking at what car shows are coming up. There are 2 here, 1 every Monday in East Grandby and one on Friday in Vernon. If you guys are interested PM me if you want or post over on the CT Thirdgen Meet thread in this forum.

Re: Starting local third gen club...Neer Boston.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't make it. 95/93 area around here was WAYYYY backed up due to a crash.... sux

As for a following show, I am in. Ideally it would be great if we could find something 45 from both of us. Not too sure where that would be, but I am going to look into it. If we can't find anyone from around there, screw it. We can always just have our own meet in some random place. I am sure we can find something.

Well i will post back here with any updates.
