new here
Hi y'all, I'm a newbe here. My name is Duane and live in Mansfield PA.
I have a 1987 Monte Carlo LS that I started restoring last fall. I took the frame out, blasted and painted it with Rustoleum black and cleaned and painted the underside of the body. I got the body back on the frame and put new Energy Suspension body mounts on it. I also purchased BMR rear control arms for it and got them bolted on. Thats as far as I got with my car so far. I hurt my arm in July and havent been able to do anything else with the car since.
There is so much I want to that car like either an LS1/6 speed or a built 383 with a 4,5,or 6 speed tranny. I want to do some other cool things with it.
But as I figure out the price of everything I want to do to my car, my income isnt the best, especially with sky high fuel costs (home heating, gas, electric) I'm figuring by the time I get it all done its going to cost between 8 and 10 grand. I can do it, but it'll take 3-4 years to get it all done. I dont want to wait that long so I was thinking of selling it for whatever I could get out of it and buying a 91 or 92 Z/28 for 3-5 grand that runs and drives good. I'm looking for a 5 speed. I dont like automatics.
I love Montes and would love an SS, but I love Camaros too. My favs are 69 Camaros as I had 2 of them when I was younger. One was a Z/28/RS, Cortez silver/black vinyl top/red std interior. If I get a 91,92 Z/28 I was to make my own heratage car for my 69 that I miss so much with the color combo and the 69 Camaro logos.
What do you all think. This is a nice website and plan on spending some quality time here

Coyle, I have known of your club for years. Was in the US Camaro Club and used to be in the Camaro Club of Western NY back in late 80s and early 90s. It died off because people lost interest. I moved away. But I see its back up and running again
Are you having any meetings or cruises coming up this fall before the snow flies?

The only thing we have left this year is the Boscov's Holiday Parade in mid-November. The club is not as strong as it used to be. When the economy in Binghamton went south (literally and figuratively) it took a toll on our club. In 2000, we had a picnic with 50 F-bodies attending. Last year, we only had about 10. I'm telling you this so you don't set your expectations too high. We don't do a whole lot, since we can't get members to show up. The biggest things we do are have a few people each year go to the Ontario Camaro Nationals and the Camaros/Firebirds at Carlisle.
I'm secretary of the club, which means I take care of the newsletter and correspondence. We are currently lacking a chairperson, who is supposed to call the meetings and more-or-less directs the club. I haven't stepped up to that because of poor health. However, since we don't have a chairperson, I've become the de-facto leader. So, if you want to lead a club here's your chance. The club has been in existence since 1988 and is incorporated in New York State. I've had some ideas to reinvigorate the club, but because of my afforementioned health problems, haven't had the energy or time to act on them.

I went to Carlisle today and not very many 3rd gens. I saw maybe 5 or 6 Camaro Z/28s and maybe a dozen Firebird TAs. All the 3rd gen Camaros were autos but 1. I was looking for a 91 or 92 Z/28. the 2 I saw were convertables and were white autos.
I saw alot of 1st gen Camaors. 69s were plentiful. Boy I miss mine. You have to be very rich to own them now. Sad.

I don't ever see 91-92 Z28s either. I've only lived up here for a few months and I rarely ever see other F bodies. Bear Mountain hosted huge car shows every wednesday and even then 1st gen Camaros were the most prevalent by far.
