T5 rebuild in CT

Anyone in the western CT area interested in rebuilding a T5? My brothers trans am is having problems with 2nd gear. It will shift from 1st to 2nd fine, but once you get past 2nd, it won't go back into 2nd gear. The general consensus of responses I've got is that the gear synchro is bad. I've been trying to find a used transmission for him, but there's always a risk that after spending a few hundred bucks, this one will have problems as well. Transmission shops charge a ridiculous amount of money for a rebuild, would be better off dropping a grand on a high quality transmission. I figured I'd toss the idea around and see if there's anyone that knows how to do this and would like to make a few bucks on the side. Thanks.

Where are you located? A buddy of mines father rebuilds tranny's from his garage. He races up at stafford and does a lotta the rebuilds for the guys up there.

I'm not sure if he does manuals or not, i'll have to give him a call and if you'd like I can probably try to find out a price for you as well.

Re: T5 rebuild in CT

The car is at my parents house in New Milford, CT, but he would remove the transmission from the car and deliver it to the person to cut down on costs.
