will my buffer censor give me problem if im riding with it disconnected?

will my buffer censor give me problem if im riding with it disconnected?
i was driving and somethimes my my rpm would idle high then drop and the car would shut off so i would pump the gas and try and catch it and my rpm would jump then it would just shut off....so i disconnected my buff. censor for now and she rides good but will that give me problems.....
