Hello all:
I have a 88 Trans-Am and my issue is with a pin-hole in my brake line. I have been told that it is able to be fixed by cutting a new line into where the pin-hole leak is at the moment (NO - NOT A COMPRESSION FITTING). Also it seems as my spring in the rear (right side) is barely being held on to the bottom piece that holds the spring has rusted away. I dont know if that can be fixed.
Anyways, I enjoy just driving the car for the summer here and there. I feel it may be time to let her go.
How much should I sell the car if I go this route? The car still runs. It has lots of rust due to the New England winters. The right side quarter panel needs to be replaced due to the rust and lots of rust here and there on the car and underneath it as well. The hood and rear hatch need new shocks that hold them up. It has an exhaust leak on the manifold, the air-conditioner compressor seems as it is on its way out.
GOOD THINGS ABOUT CAR: It was painted about 3 years ago. It has a new rear axle (2002), remanufactured transmission (2005). Has lots of parts that could be used.
The engine still runs strong (changed oil every 3000 miles with synthetic oil - engine has about 175,000 miles)
It has GTA rims in good condition.
It has good T-tops.
It has a well-taken care of interior (seats, dash, etc.)
It has Good Tires (cost about $180 a piece or more - G-Force T/A)
It has a good hatch (motor needs to be replaced to close hatch).
So how much do you think I should sell the car? I figured $1000 or so?
Brian

fix the hole and drive it for another 20 years.
the longer you hold onto it the more it will be worth.
