Hey guys! Now that there are a few people in here, looking for some information. As you can expect, my 9 bolt has gone peg legged... could have been from doing laps out in a bumpy field back in 03... and boiling brake fluid... just thinking..

Anyway.. I know I can get new guts for it from Australia, but I'd like one of the late 4th gen rear ends with the Torsen unit, T1/T2? Do any of you have leads on where in western or central ny might have one? If need be, I have a truck and would go to the southern parts of NY or more eastern parts of NY if need be.

Any help is appreciated

 

I'm in Rotterdam actually. I have an 87 IROC, 5.7L, Dark Red Metallic with 68,000 original miles. I bought the car alittle over a year ago from a guy in Westchester county. I'm in the process of putting together a single turbo kit for it. I already have most of the parts I need but I'll probably wait till the winter months before I start installing it.

Cool i just moved here from Hawaii and i bought this car

its an 89 rs 305 no paint just primer

dumb dumb owner before me took off the entire exhaust so now i have manifold to muffler right under my passenger door ha ha

but it runs real good tho..........

yeah mines a 90 rs with the 3.1 paint is screwed but i will be doing the rusto paint job that you can read about on here there is a good group that i heard about at NYTHIRDGEN.com i joined it just the other day

 

YO ITS FUNNY YOU BRING UP THE RUSTOLEUM PAINT I BEEN STUDYING EVERYTHING ABOUT THE 50 DOLLAR PAINT JOB AND IM DOING THE SAME THING I ACTUALLY FOUND IT IN CHAMELLON PAIN (PURPLE/BLUE/GREEN) I TESTED IT ON MY INTREPID AND IT LOOKS REAL GOOD

FIRST IM PAINTING IT BLACK AND EITHER DOING CHAMELLON STRIPES OR CHAMELLON FLAMES

when i get home tonight ill take a pic but it came out pretty good i just sprayed to hard and got some drip lines ...thats wat sand paper is for ...

 

nice i dont have a sprayer though so i think im going to try the rolling meathod i was thinking going with a flat black with minimal shine i like the murdered out look

 

i actually dont have a sprayer it was out of a spray can it cost 20 bucks tho...ouch but its real good......trust me im gonna do the roller method tho and after all the research i think i know what im doin

 

yeah i think ive probley read everything there is on the internet about doing that 50 dollar paint job most of the cars ive seen came out really nice. i sprayed my 84 ram with a can of regular flat red and put 5 coats of clear on it and i actually had a lot of ppl asking me were i got it painted because they loved it and they wanted to go to the same guy. you should have seen there faces when i told them it was just alot of time and 10 cans of walmart super cheap spray paint they could have swore it was professinoaly done lol

 

thats real good its that feeling of accomplishment i want so i can say i did it and not damn maaco or some crappy place ...but its so simple

prep

roll paint, sand roll paint sand

repeat step above three maybe four times

then buff

i mean the way i wanna do it might take a few days but know it will come out good in the end have you done any other mods to your car

yeah dude we were having problems with ppl breaking into our house and our vehicles someone smashed my passenger side window in the camaro and stole the radio and the gps so we got outta there in a hurry watervliet seems much better. but we are looking for ppl to chill with around here.

 

How was it that bad? you weren't even like ~5-10mins from me, and it's not anything like that here. hm bad luck :s

I've never had anyone break into any house of mine, just because I'm practically always awake. I woke up Wednesday, stayed awake into Thursday night, and just woke up now, at 5:27 A.M on Friday.

I'll have to see that caprice some time, always thought the wagons would be cool if they were given some life!

 

Give me a PM and stop by. There's cold ones in the fridge. It's one of Kicker's old demo vehicles that they nicknamed Shammoo. For seventeen years that 's the only plate name it's had in four different states. I think of the car as "Shammoo, the Killer Whagon".

It's a blast when it is working... also the source of many drowned kittens thrown into the Genesee River when the frustration level builds because it's not working.

 

just came inside to post an update on my issues with the 85/88 camaro I'm working on, soon as it hits the road again in a week/2 weeks I'll take ya up on that! Just pulled up an old pic of the car ya posted on another forum, thing looks sick in black!

84 z28 ---- Is that red camaro yours? I thought I saw it yesterday or the day before when we were out making pick ups in Rochester, saw in between a couple buildings over at St. Paul/Lake Ave area just north of the inner loop? If so, the sun was reflecting off that clear like it was glass!

I just joined and am located in Glens Falls. Currently looking to sell my '91 Mustang GT for an IROC to replace the one I had years ago. So far no luck though.

 

Heh, that's funny. Almost the opposite of me. I love my IROC, but I'm in the process of saving for an '01-'04 Rustang GT. I just wish they weren't as expensive as they are. It's taken a poor IROC owner such as myself, months just to put aside three grand. A little over four more grand to go!

At least I'm not confused anymore though. I was going back and forth deciding whether to stroke the IROC to a 383 now, or further down the road, since I'm in need of a rebuild anyway. Or, buy a second weekend car, since I've always wanted a Mustang or an LS1 T/A. But, since there's already an F body sitting in the garage, it'd be nice to see a Mustang sitting around.

UPDATE- It's not an IROC I found, but rather an '89 GTA. Definitely happy with the trade!!!!!

 

Thats battmann's car. Mine is the black camaro. He works downtown. The car now has a different wheel and tire setup and so does mine. We acutally just went to carisle in the red camaro.

I live in marion, right next to palmyra. will be around quite a bit all summer, just as soon as I pull my 327 out and drop the 305 in so I can fix the 327. I have found that I love driving my car in the winters, just made a lot more stops to the car wash is all. I'm going to call this one my DD because my dream is of T-Tops, and this doesn't have em.

 

i think im the farthest up in upstate new york lol im about an hour north of watertown, and 25 miles from the canadian border 0_o

 

We should try and organize something, like a picnic or something this summer with all the cars out, I think that would be fun, just finding a park in the albany area to suit everyones car being there may be difficult, looks like we have a lot of people upstate. That and maybe a few cruises and I'd be all over this.
