woooo well i had court today and i won because the lack of evidence against me, even the kid in the truck that tried running from the cops won for the same reason. Man, do feel alot better now..
Re: $500 drag racing ticket??...
very coolit figures it would turn out in your favor

too bad the cop doesnt get reprimanded for wasting everyones time
he was probably some rookie who has an up and coming power trip

Well since ive had the car ive been pulled over twice. The first cop was actually really cool, idk why he pulled me over but he asked me if my car was a real iroc said I said yes then he let me go. The second cop pulled me over cuz i had a license plate bulb out then he made a big deal about it he searched my car. Seeing as i had it for all of 3 days there was not much to look for. Since i live in a small town its actually really common to get harassed by cops if you have a nice looking car, especially if your a teenager. Even though my iroc was owned by a local cop for 20 years before the previous PO bought it, Im always being followed around town.
(this CAN backfire on you, if they get a warrant and your car is left on the side of the road with most of the interior lying in the ditch.. but it's rare).

Theres a quick way to get a cop to leave you alone in my home state.
When I'm asked for my license I pull my wallet out and hand over both my Drivers and my concealed weapon permit.
The reason why is to one let the officer know I am a registered concealed carry and that there is a firearm in the vehicle and two that I know my rights as a us citizen.
They usually don't ask to search then unless they have a real probable cause and often will let you go becuase they respect that you are letting them know that there is a weapon nearby and that you are letting them know about it to ease concerns that they could be attacked. Remember....there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop.
The officer is more scared of approaching your vehicle then you are about getting a ticket. Make the stop smooth help relive the officers tension about the situation and be polite but firm about your rights and you'll be suprised how often you'll be allowed to go with out a ticket.

Most of the horror stories I've seen are not mid 30's/40 year old guys, but teenagers or early 20's being harassed by the cops cause the cops see pimples and a pimped ride, and smell easy pickings.
Knowing your rights and when to keep your mouth shut is the number one weapon against overzealous (and unlawful!) gendarmes. Unfortunately, too few people know when to utilize either.

What was his excuse for searching? NEVER EVER let them search your car. Whether or not you are sure you have nothing, if they ask, say "no". Most of them won't get a warrant, because there's no probable cause.

Haha well you asked for it. The PO was arrested for throwing a frosty out his window at someone standing by the drivethru line at wendys. A few minutes later he was pulled over and arrested for assult with a deadly weapon. So after getting arrested he was forced to take the iroc off the road then eventaully he sold it to me. The PO is actually my girlfriends cousin so i got a really good deal for the car. But about that cop that arrested the PO and searched my car, hes the local cop in my town thats notorious for pulling over any younger kid in a fast/loud car.

the PO is actually a good friend of mine but thank god i was able to save the car from him. When he bought it a few years ago it was mint, but by the time i got it, it was covered with small dings/scratches, a kicked in fender, and rusted out wheel wells. Since Im a freshman in college its kinda hard to restore the car but Im doing what i can.

Re: $500 drag racing ticket??...
Im glad you got off. I hate to see people harassed for no reason. While I don't agree with doing burnouts and brake stands in public, it is usually safe in a parking lot with no one else around. I agree that a lot of cops look for young drivers with high-performance and custom vehicles. Its just because most younger people do cause problems and dont know how to drive safely. On the other hand, I haven't met many people on here that don't respect their cars and other drivers, so that is a plus for third gen owners.
I worked as a military police officer for 2.5 years before I went to the infantry. The things I learned on the job there have saved me countless times. I have never gotten harassed by a police officer just because of the attitude I show them and a few tricks I use, below:
When I get lit up I safely pull over far enough off of the road that the officer doesn't have to worry about traffic hitting him. I roll down both windows, turn off the car and lay the keys on top of the dash, and at night turn on the interior lights. I have all of my paperwork, licence and CCW ready for him/her when they get to my car. Another big thing is to keep both your hands in plain view as he/she walks up, I usually rest them on my steering wheel. These little things I listed above will help the cop relax a bit before he/she ever reaches your car, because they never have a clue who or what is waiting for them when they approach.
As soon as he/she reaches my car I give him/her a polite greeting and inform them I am legally carrying a concealed pistol. My usual is "Good morning/afternoon/evening officer, I would like to inform you that I am legally carrying a concealed weapon on my right side. Here is my licence and CCW, sir/mam." This shows the police officer that you are mature, level headed, and know your rights. I will also answer most questions asked, unless I feel it would be in my best interest not to. This shows the officer that you are willing to cooperate with him. It is NEVER a good idea to argue with the police officer, as he/she will get irritated and will always write you a ticket for the initial infraction, as well as anything else he/she can come up with. Your best bet if you do get a ticket is to accept it, thank him/her for their time, and fight it in court. The officer will remember how respectful and courteous you were and a lot of the time he/she will inform the judge of that, which helps you.
Most officers that you will encounter will be genuinely good people who are just doing their job and will be willing to give you a warning if they feel it will do as much good as a ticket. There are some a**holes who just care about writing tickets and giving people a hard time, and they give all cops a bad name. If one of them tickets you, and you fight it, the judge will usually already know the officers reputation and will take it into account. If anyone has any questions about how/why cops do things let me know.

Re: $500 drag racing ticket??...
Haha well now that Im out at college I never have any problems with cops, going to Massachusetts Maritime Academy definitly gave me a good reputation. Since I got that ticket the only other time I was pulled over was by Pembroke, MA cop who owned my iroc through 1990-2007 before he sold it to my friend (the one that beat on the car). He only pulled me over just to check up on his old car and congradulate me on the "restoration" of the iroc. Hopefully I won't have to deal with another robocop trying to act badass.
