I have an 88 Trans Am with a 305 tpi motor. My catalytic converter went. If I take this off and replace it with a straight pipe how will it affect the oxygen sensor and the way my computer runs? Will I notice a difference in the way the car runs.

in our cars since they are all OBDI systems it wont effect the cars computer however if you need to get it SMOG tested it WILL fail that, if you dont have to SMOG the car the exhaust will just smell a little bit worse might get a few more HP you wont notice it though

 

should I cap the 1/2 ss line that goes to the converter?

 

dont do anything to it that will hurt it if you need/want to put a cat back on later but yea caping it should work, you could also drop the cat and "clean it out" with a long rod and just keep it looking normal with an empty cat, that way everything is still in place to put a new one in
