Finally got to the Track

As im sure most of you know my T/A is out of commision but i have my dakota that most of you have seen and the weather finally held up and i got to run it and here's basically how i did

----------1-------------------2
R/T-----.478(yuck!)-----.280 (a little better)
60'------2.370-----------2.227
ET-------15.11-----------15.01
MPH-----89.60-----------89.59

Not what i was at all hoping for but i guess it better than the two other dakota's there. (A 93 V6 pulling 18's and a 04 V6 pulling 17's) No thirdgen's unfortunately but it was still nice to finally get somewhat of a baseline for the truck. Now time to start getting it into the 14's im sure if i can launch the light better and not lose traction that ill be doing 14.8 at least. Well so much for the predictions.

Good times Jon, you can give most of us a good run.
Glad somebody has gone to the track.

I'd like to point out too from the other thread. ..

Get some headers on that thing! That should push you into 14's.How many runs did you get in?You could mess with the timing and see if that helps.

Headers are the next thing that i want to do but i got the baby on the way so im kinda sitting back with the finances until i know whats going on. I only ran twice and i didnt even get to dial in so when eliminations came up they let me run again after my first loss against a Nova. And well if i had a timing gun i would probably do that but for now i think im just going to get new plugs/wires and check the cap and rotor to make sure everything is still kosher.

and Terrance there were alot of cars there last night so i didnt notice an M3 specifically but i hope he ran better than me.

I thought you have some slicks Eric.
I'd think that'd solve the problem.

Nice job John. Now I want to run my car and see where I am at. I have a feeling you could give me a run for it for sure. Anyway, hope to see you around at the track sometime soon.

I agree Travis, keep it real and don't use slicks.

if vipers and as fast cars can run 12's and 11's with their street tires. why do i need slicks?

You don't need them. They are a waste of money and impractical on the street, especially since they suck in the rain, and your car is a daily driver and gets driven in any and all kinds of weather. Slicks just make people think they actually have a "race car". I would rather say I have a 100% streetable car with street tires and can keep up with your car that has slicks. Go Travis, smoke those slick boys!

Preach!
It would nice to run with slicks one time to see the cars potential best, but after that, not so much.
I like knowing what cars I can hang with as it will be on the street.

Ya with both launches i got some wheel spin, but the second run i got less. For one reason or another the truck didnt want to break loose (the cars with slicks had just gone and gotten the burnout box sticky) so i got a decent amount of wheel spin with the cold tires on the first run but the second time i got the truck to break loose real good and got the tires warmed up so the 2nd run i only chirped off the line.
