Need Help

I have a 92 rs 305 5spd. It sat for 4-5 months. I drove it about 10 miles on Sat. on the way home I got on it hard then slowed down quickly for a stop sign . It shut off at the stop, when I turned the key it would start and run for a few seconds and die. I towed it home and let it sit overnight. On Sun. it started right up but lopes from nearly dying to 1500 rpm. I replaced the fuel filter and have good flow through the line. I sprayed wd-40 all around the intake and vacuum hoses with no change in idle. It's been 105 degrees here everyday , not much fun working on this.

Check the Ignition Module in the Distributor. Take it out and take it to Autozone where they will test it out for free. Make sure when you reinstall that you coat the bottom with some Di Electric Grease or it will short out. This is a common problem with no warning signs. Good Luck!!

has it ever backfired when trying to restart it? From your symptoms it sounds like it could be the ignition module. My old 89 did the same thing, i replaced the ignition module and it drove fine.

If anybody is interested , it was the fuel pump . What a pain to change.

Glad to hear you were able to accomplish it yourself.
