Re: 700r4 to t56
I'm going to be doing this same swap on my '84 Z28, and have been reading a lot about it in the transmission forums here. There is a lot of good info posted about this swap including costs, and all of the aggrivating little thing you will encounter along the way. Not trying to be a jerk bud, but spend some time reading, a lot of people here have done this.

Re: 700r4 to t56
I think a little local conversation on this topic would be good for us all. I for one have been contemplating this swap, repeatedly going back and forth between a rebuilt upgraded 700R4 and a T56 because I know my 700R4 is on it's last leg. It seems to me that that costs would be about the same. I'm just not sure if I want to tackle the swap (I heard getting those pedals set up is an absolute biatch) and even then I'm not totally sure if I want a manual. Anybody here actually done it?

Re: 700r4 to t56
thank yall for your reply's I been reading up on the swap in the drivetrain forum and im going to do it when i get enough cash.
I am sick of automatics specially the 700r4 lol the T56 gearing is better and is alot stronger stock and you get better gas mileage.
porky thanks for the offer but im looking for a stock one, my motor is basically stock and im keeping that way, im saving up for the Ls1/t56 swap and im getting closer each month to my total and goal

Re: 700r4 to t56
I agree completely about local conversation, and I wasn't trying to end Vash's thread. I just wanted to point him in the direction I have been as there is quite a bit of discussion and information on the topic. I'm pretty sure I have seen at least a member or two from Nor-Cal that have done this swap, and I would love to hear their experiences as well.

If any of you do your swap and have a higher quality torque converter to sell, I'm in need of one sometime this year.... Nitro

my car's name is the 'red dragon', vins is the 'black beast', there's a few others off the top of my head; it was a funny quote traviz said lol a long time ago.[/QUOTE]

Okay; just as long as yer not calling my POS IROC a 'pink fairy'!!!
Add to your name list my 'Black Beaver'. Or you can call her "Black as a dead girl's beaver" or- 'Bytch slap me Black Beaver'............
I got to see Vindeisel's Camaro last Wed. It's hard to imagine that it was once headed for the wrecking yard. He has less than $5k into his from doing all the work himself and carefull shopping for deals.
Mine looks exactly like his (more or less) and I've spent over $20k and she still acts up worse than a coked up teenage *****....
Vinnie said that the reason his runs so good is that the Travis thoroughly did the PROM research and work.
