Nor Cal Third Gen GTG Fall 09 - PART 2
Okay guys - I've reviewed the poll results and it looks like we had 26 total voters and the voting was spread across pretty evenly on ideas.
That's a good thing that we all have some interest, but I had to pick just 1 for next month, so lets keep the other ideas in mind for next year.
Top 2 votes were a BS/grub meet & Sac Raceway/grub meet. Almost everybody that voted for 1 didn't vote for the other, interesting.
So here's my solution for a Fall GTG in order to appeal to the masses. ..
We meet up Saturday afternoon 4pm to eat/BS first, then those who would like to race come 6pm, lets do it, the rest can spectate, offer tips, talk smack, etc.
Those that stick around for racing all night and want to gtg afterwards to BS on our lousy times are welcome, but from my experience folks leave at different times after racing, etc.
Notice the date, mark your calendars!! 3 weeks to prepare! Weather will hopefully still be great before rains comes.
Sat...October 17
Grudge Fest
Drag Racing: Race your friends or just the clocks
Times: Pit Gates Open: 4:00pm, Racing 6:00pm-10:00pm
Admission: General Admission: $5
Racers: $35 (car and driver)
5305 Excelsior Rd
Sacramento, CA 95827-9715
So that's the raceway location. We might have some folks trailering, so I don't know what you guys want to do as far as eating/BS location. Throw out those ideas in here please.

We meet up Saturday afternoon to BS/eat somewhere and then around 4-5pm, those who would like to race, or just watch the racing can head down caravan style (that counts as a cruise too!) to the raceway. What do you think??

As Far as keeping people around after racing.
I suggest a "BEST POKER HAND" everyone gets dealt 5 cards, per person. If youre the owner of a TGO, you get delt 2 hands (10 cards).
When we gather at IN&OUT, all members will be delt a "5 CARD POKER" hand, After all the racing is done, (or a a predeterinmed time) everyone gets to "trade in" 3 cards per hand, to try & get the BEST POKER HAND, the winning hand wins something, (cash, gift cert, or something, a gift cert to Harbor Freight,???) EVERYBODY IS ALL IN!!!
Rocklin Automotive could kick down something as the grand prize...Remember Travis won a gas powered Pressure washer at the last GTG, and that was a Rained out event.
BTW just like in Poker, there is a buy in. So if youre "broke" maybe you can come buy the shop a day or two early and wash my truck, trailer, car, ATV, or whatever to "buy In".
Playing cards will be in new unopened boxes. All memebers can cut, & shuffle the cards as much as possible. Cards can be transported in a "lockbox" (counted before & after we arrive at the track).
Aces, Jacks & threes are wild??????

'atta boys, keep 'em coming.
In&Out is doable, cheap and near our destination.
If we get there around 2 or so, the lunch rush hopefully will be gone to allow for some parking.
Other eatery ideas are welcome too.
I'm getting some fresh drag radials on tomorrow, woo hoo!

Count me in.
Is there secure parking at the track? i don't wanna leave my car all alone, I want to have a good time and not have to worry constantly if someone is messing with my car. For those of you that have been there before please let me know.

You should put me in spot number 7... Lucky #7!

SMOKIN Z - There are lots of nice cars parking there and i haven't heard of any issues. Are you not racing? The pit area parking is large and close by where you can easily check on, or see your car from the bleachers.

I'm digging the BBQ idea. The only thing keeping me from going would be getting the day off, but I submitted my request today so there shouldn't be a problem. Count me in, and I will be trying to bring a friend and fellow third gen owner with me.

BULLYDAWG----I have an extra set of MT drag radials that are not in use. 26's i believe... Youre welcome to use them for the event, (no excuses now) haha J/K
I'm down w/ the BBQ at the track. maybe we do a BYOF, & I bring the grill???
is ray coming, cause I'm not cooking.
RAMAIR----, my trailer has everything you need to change out some slicks, Impact, Floorjack, Compressor, Generator, Fridge etc, etc
SMOKINZ----The track is secure, you're fine, you'll never be far from your car.
The track also rents helmets if you really need one
BTW, when is this all happening?

I really like the idea of making it an all day track thing. I can just bring my car on a trailer and call it a program. I wont have to worry about anything else!
We should do it man! Fun and simple. Just meet up at the track and chill!
I think this is all going down on the 17th, right Del?

Re: Nor Cal Third Gen GTG Fall 09 - PART 2
Saturday, 10-17 folks, as stated above.
3rdBird/Marc - You got it and thanks for getting the ball rolling. I needed someone to light a fire under my 3rdgen rear end.
I'm all for a BBQ at the track event, just requires some more organization with all of us. Someone has to man the grill, maybe somebody not racing. I haven't seen Ray/scribbles posting lately, must be busy.
Is everyone cool with that? Bring your own food/drinks? Maybe some of us can go in together on stuff, etc.

Re: Nor Cal Third Gen GTG Fall 09 - PART 2
I wont mind grilling!
Marc are you going to bring your grill? I got a little charcoal grill
Del, I wont mind getting the food. There will be a charge at the grill though lol! How does $15 sound? All you can eat. Costco Hot doggs, Carne asada marinated in lemon juice overnight, Tortillas, salsa.
One question. What time are we allowed to hang out? is it 4pm? If that is the case then maybe we should bring in something more simple lol

My email to Sac Race
Hello,
What time are we allowed to enter the gates for Grudge Fest on October 17, 2009? We have a few of us wanting to arrive early and BBQ before 6pm. Is it possible that we can arrive during TEST and TUNE? Thanks
Response:
Jose,
If you arrive prior to 4pm. Gate price is $10 per person. Gates are usually closed and locked to incoming patrons from 2pm-4pm.
Jennifer

So whats the deal?

Re: Nor Cal Third Gen GTG Fall 09 - PART 2
Thanks for following up Joey.
If the spectators want to spend $10, instead of $5 that's fine, but I think 4pm SHARP could still be decent for meeting up. They won't be lining up till after 5:30, or so maybe.
Leaves a good 1.5+ hours to BBQ/BS. Folks that aren't racing can carry on longer, etc.
The first gravel/dirt parking lot should be open to park in for folks arriving a little earlier that aren't going back in the pits. We could all meet there before 4 then be first to head in.
How about $15 a head for all you can eat AND drink? They charge an arm/leg there for sodas, etc. Maybe I can bring sodas/water if you want to dish me $2 off each $15 net Joey.
Some people might bring family, kids, etc. So I don't know, just want it to be affordable for all. Y'all can decide the $$ part.
Coolers/ice anyone?

I guess it depends on Marc if he can bing his Gas Grill cause the charcoal style will take awhile to heat up. Maybe i should just stick to bringing costco hot dogs and chips! Pretty simple. Save the Carne Asada for a special occasion
So i guess this will bring the price down to well $15 (Includes Drink and Chips). Or do a "bring your own food" and not worry about anything else just yourselves LOL Whatever works

I am in also. Since Im not bringin my car (busted tranny, reg, who knows what else), I am willing to bring extra food or condiments. Let me know what we will need.
If we decide to meet and BS instead of meeting at the track, How bout we meet at a Mels Diner or somewhere where we can cruise and enoy the cars before we end up at the track. In & Out to the track is literally 20 minutes. Cant really call that a cruise can you?

I know its expensive, so I'm not making light of it, but a solid NCTGO member/members should just pull the food out of their pocket $60-$75 bucks buys alot of hamburger, dogs & buns at Smart & Final.
Other members with tighter budgets should raid their fridge or others peoples fridges for ketchup & mustard. Now we're done.?????
This should'nt be a big production, it just gets too complicated/expensive.
We should just Represent, I'll try to secure a spot at the end of the grandstands next to the track. Everyone meets there for food, BS, & watch some racing.

I think we're going with simplicity for this meet and it sounds like meeting right at the track this time is the best bet. Next time we'll work on a cruise and gtg elsewhere.
I'll throw some cash to both parties for food/drinks then.
Condo's, plates, napkins, that's about it really. Keep it simple with just dogs/chips.

I'll put you down for utensils + ketchup/mustard/relish, etc.
That really ought to do it guys for the basics, but if you want to bring anything else, go for it!

I sure will be there too, competing for the number 1 spot for 09.
I think of something to bring. I'll ask my wife if she can make some lumpia.

Re: Nor Cal Third Gen GTG Fall 09 - PART 2
Remember what the track official said about your car last time...."no faster than 11.50" or you're out!
Looks like I got you beat already & that's just on the safety, ha ha
or are you just gonna run it twice & get kicked out? Either way its gonna be fun.
