Hey, what's up ? i'm new to this. I've got an '84 firebird s/e. I love it but it needs alot of tlc cause it's been neglected for almost 26 years but it has beautiful potential. Unfortunately I know squat about mechanics. Here's a question-is the air conditioner on the same belt as the water pump ? My bird overheats in like 2 minutes and I think it's because somebody removed the air conditioner and maybe screwed up something else ?

Re: humbird

Removing the A/C belt will not overheat your car, if anything it would free up some HP from the motor (and render your AC useless).

If your car is overheating I would first check the coolant / radiator / hoses before I check for something bigger like water pump or a blown head gasket.
