sad day for the IROC
i was taking my now exgirlfriend home last sunday. all wuz good, then i heard a ticking. i thought it was the cat since i need it replaced. then it got louder. i decided to pull over and then white smoke came up. it died, poped hood and white smoke. coolant. all coming from the driverside head. it was steaming out of valve cover through the gasket. had to tow it home. so what do you all think is wrong. my cuz says it might be the head or the gasket. my boy said the ticking was a lifter. yes it has coolant and oil.

You can do that if you have the money. Or you could just find a set of vortec heads, throw a nice cam in it since you have it apart, put a vortect intake on it and call it a day. Or you could just put a new headgasket on it lol.

Re: sad day for the IROC
75% chance it's a blown intake gasket, 25% cylinder head/gasket issue.
My suggestion would be to replace the head gaskets anyway (since the intake will be replaced by proxy). Have the heads checked for warpage, cracks, or damaged valves. If all is good; reassemble and drive while you build a bigger engine. If you need another set of heads I would recomend a set of good stock type heads from a salvage/junk yard; and drive it stock while you build another engine....But that's just my
