The rotating assy seems to be ok, but a valve job & some short block work seems to be in order. Plus finding out why we leaned out.

Trying to have it figured out by June 11.

Wow, you really wanted that # 1 spot dude! Sucks for sure, but that's part of race car ownership eh?

It happened after you completed that 10.1, or it was a different run? Best of luck with the rebuild.

Car ran strong in 1st & 2nd gear, it was pulling hard and at about 1000 feet, then it started popping and i lost power, and the cab filled up w/ smoke and I shut it down and luckily coasted all the way back to the trailer. That run had mid to high 9's written all over it.

oh we'll I didn't like those pistons anyway....

Looks like a new set of rings, pistons and a minor valve job. I pulled the heads yesterday, and will get some new pistons coming Tuesday.

The block, crank are ok.

New rods, pistons, rings and a cam put this motor back together. The factory block just wont handle bunch of gas.

Goes to show you. you cant just throw a set of higher flowing heads on without getting the tuning part down. I NEED MORE FUEL!

90VERT, 14.61 @ 94.44, 2.2 60' 1990 Chevrolet IROC, Convertible, LT1.
Special thanks to ROCKLIN AUTOMOTIVE for fixing it & putting the repair to the test.

I'M SURE THAT'S WHAT THEO WOULD SAY.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Wish I had a current time... I am still stuck with the 13.1 from last year with the old motor. I will be coming home in about a year, so if I can get a t56 in, hopefully I can get some new times for the next thread.

Im not happy with my MPH. I ran a 109 before the L/T install. And this time i ran 108mph but with a much faster E/T??? either the track is wack or me....I though for sure i would of picked up at least 2mph....

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Honestly your hole shots didnt look all that fabulous to me but those 60 are pretty good still..I think you ate too much so your MPH is low well with all else being the same. shift points, stall, etc. you'd think you would pick up some MPH. But maybe not. Hell of a job either way. I think you need a line lock so you can heat those tires up more..But that is my opinion. Burnout is kind of weak for the power but what do I know my car ran a 14.8!

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

I thought I saw Joey do quite the burnout on his slicks. I don't do half that on a DR. Your 60's were the same too at high 1.7's. Picked up 3 tenths sounds right to me, don't sweat the mph too much.

Hey where are the other times?! Will? I know there were a couple more.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

I only watched him run twice and they didnt look real huge but I was downtrack around 700 ft or so. He didnt seem to really jump out of the hole but im very impressed of his car and its consistency. I can't tell if he is spinning at all. So I dunno. Dont listen to me! haha.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

He has his pit crew chief dad providing instruction on water box and burnout length. I think his launches are pretty consistent high 1.7 or low 1.8.

Time to dyno Joey! I think that mph estimates about 350 at the rear wheels.

Anthony!! I was doing some awesome burn outs. I'm pretty sure I got those tires nice and hot. Marc gave me some tips and they worked great. But I would still slip no matter what I did. I even let the air go down to 10psi and it still spun. The track wad not all that great. I'm going back real soon. I know the car can do much better.

Im sure it has more in it too. If you decide to go let me know I'll go up there and watch. If I have my car ready I'll race it too. I need some redemption. And I wasnt meaning to clown on your burnouts or anything. I had to deal with some homie's trying to hustle me out of money. haha. Plus I was in a **** poor mood for car not being right.

Joey, I have a set of rims and tires you can try next time out.

Lets just see what slicks can do. maybe some squeez???

Lucky for you Bennie is working on Del's car, so it'll be like another year or so before you match up against him. Just gotta take out Travis. Too bad he's still not using MeGaysquirt.
See ya at the top.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Marc I looked into the timing with the Solus. My computer in my car does not have the option of changing the timing it looks like I am going to be getting into some custom tuning with the Dynamicefi.com EBL flash by member Rbob here. It comes with base settings to get me up and runing quick. Then I can do some runs with datalogging and figure this sucker out. 14.2 w/o higher flowing heads, So hopefully I can get into the 13's and i'll be where I wanna be. A respectable 13 second TBI car and then can throw all my money into the Charger to have it out there in 2012 before the world ends

hahahahaha. It still starts now. It needs body, interior work, new fuel lines plumbed etc. It should give you a run how you are now hopefully. I'd get getting 7 MPG too. well hopefully it will! any less and I wont be able to afford to drive it. I miss having two cars!

These guys!

I think Travis needs those rims and tires instead of the 18's!

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Well I think he could launch more aggressively for sure. But I understand he wants to run the car at the track in is street form so he can really see what the car does as is. Im kind of the same way. Just the HP level is a biiiiiiiig difference. I dont have full rear suspension mods but I do have teh LCA and relocation brackets.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Yeah, no doubt I'm stubborn in the same way as far as no slicks and driving my car home as is, but I have every suspension mod imaginable and 17's. I think Travis is more worried about breaking his rear.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

What other options are solid out there? I've not kept up. I dread the day my 9-bolt goes.

I still want to get some of the front end suspension pieces like center link/idler arm, ball joints. Mine are pretty worn and steering could use tightening.

I've got mainly BMR/Spohn pieces. Wonder bar, SFCs, Panhard, LCAs+brackets, torque arm, strut tower, etc. If I could pull a 1.6 60' on DR's, that'd rock!

Oh yes, it does. Different than the ZZ3. Updated. I try not to put too many details in there, mainly the motor. The ZZZ is 350 HO right? What's the HP rating on that?

Well with the 113 heads and 236/236 cam it was rated @345, but I have afr 180cc heads and a 218/224 cam not sure what I'm making power wise

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

Maybe September we do a dyno day GTG somewhere.

Based on your mph, it looks like it is missing some power with that engine/head/cam combo. I'm sure the stock tune/fueling has a lot to do with it.

Ya, I have no doubt that it's not making it's power potential. I am interested to see what it dyno's as is, then bumping up fuel pressure on one dyno run, and installing the custom prom for the third run.

Re: Nor-Cal 2011 1/4 Mile Times - Get on the list!

I'm thinking my base timing may be off as well, going to tinker with it a little this week on my own and see if I can tell a difference with the @ss dyno

Good idea. I would've thought about 300rwhp with that combo, but the numbers indicate closer to 250 or less depending on couple variables if I calc'd that right.
