Storing a 700r4
I have my transmission out of my car. I am in the process of installing a new motor and a manual transmission.
I intend to keep the automatic just in case some day I want to put the car all back to stock or restore another one. I have drained most of the fluid out of it and installed plugs into the various orifices. For long term storage have any of you any other tips to keep the transmission in good shape? It's a Probuilt 700R4 with an Edge converter and a few other things so I want to maintain it.

basically cover any spots where stuff can get in. so the dipstick hole. id assume your keeping the converter installed. The tailshaft you can take a rag and tape it around the end of it covering the hole up there. That's really the best you could do IMO.

Re: Storing a 700r4
Take a small piece of wood, long enough to stretch the length of the bell housing.and run a bolt thru them to hold the converter on. Try and store it on a piece of cardboard or something to soak up and possible leaks from anywhere.. should be good to go. I'm storing two in my garage with no problems.

When you go to use it again make sure you replace the front seal. The converter weight will wallow it out of shape.
