Long shot — looking for my old car

Long shot, but I’m trying to track down a 1989 IROC-Z that I previously owned.

License plate was 4UFG452. Sold around 2004/2005 in Pittsburg, CA.

It was white with T-tops. I’ll post the vin when I find it.

I’m just curious whether it’s still around or what eventually happened to it.

Appreciate any info.

Im looking through old stuff trying to find it, and I sent a request to the DMV. Fingers crossed. I’ll post it when I do find it but 18 year old me wasn’t exactly keeping detailed records 21 years ago, lol.

Having the vehicle's VIN is a must; with it, you can buy a CarFax review which can show the vehicle's title, crash, and maintenance history. If nothing else, you may at least find out when it was last on the road.

While I've personally never dealt with California DMV, I've had dealings with Ohio DMV in the past, attempting the same thing you're doing now, trying to track down a formerly-owned vehicle. Let's just say that Ohio DMV was "less than helpful." I hope you have better luck than I.

Yeah, as far back as the late 90's, the Ohio BMV has never been willing to give out owner information to others. And I've even had family than ran a BMV. They do have a feature online though that lets you see when the title was last transfered and what county it was in.
