To answer your question:

I've only had "private" work done on trannys around here - i.e., I took the tranny out and hauled it to the guy who rebuilt it on the side (he works for the Chevy dealer up by Highway 36 & I-25 - but he doesn't do that anymore - he's still there, but all work has to go through the shop now).

I've heard US Transmissions on Broadway just north of C-470 does good work - used to be Budget Transmissions.

Other than that, I don't know personally of a good place to get tranny work done.
