Help me please!

Is there anyone around Mundelein that could possibly come help me out. I spun a rod bearing in my firebird. I NEED this car for school. I will have about 1000 to put into this car. If somebody could maybe help me fix this it would help me out a LOT. I know i'm new and this is asking a lot but just let me know if you think you could help.

I would just buy a book and do it myself but time is short so I need to do it right the first time.

Thanx, David

sorry to say but I think you have to pull the motor to get the oil pan off to get to the bearing. That sucks!!! I have done it befor in my 91 rs 305. Your talking an all day project.

Ouch, davyboy, I'm sorry to hear that. I was looking forwards to seeing your car.

But don't dispair, I've been where you are now. Cracked block, other big problems. I don't know much about engine work, I have very little mechanical experience, let alone the tools to take on a project like this.

It all works out in the end, I would try to see if your mom or dad might be willing to help you out with the cash issue. Assuming you can't get help on this.

While there is a shop I trust because they have never screwed me over, and are always honest with me. However, I don't think they will be able to fix your motor for less than $1 grand. The labor is the most expensive part of this.

Your rod and crank are prob screwed, so you will need a new rod and have the crank turned or get a new one. Either way you will have it down to a bare block so you might a well hone/rering it and obviously new bearings. It may unfortunately put you over $1000, you may consider looking for a $1k second car.

You're making me kinda depressed here... lol

I am thinking of just using it as a trade with somebody who knows what they are doing and putting that $1000 with it to get another third gen.
