The A/C compressor on my LS1 is going out and a remanufactured one is $250. There's a pull-off from an '01 on eBay for $50 with 9k miles. If I can get mine rebuilt for under $100, I'll do that, otherwise the one on eBay gets my bid. Any idea where I can get an A/C compressor rebuilt and an idea of cost? When the clutch isn't engaged (i.e. A/C not in use) there is a metallic scraping noise (don't know how else to describe it) coming from the compressor.

 

possibly needs a clutch.....the bearing is shot.......see if you can buy just an a/c clutch assy.......otherwise...just nab that one from ebay...i doubt you can get a rebuild for under$100
