How to dragrace?

Hi..

My Sr and DFI is soon installed and I have some Q.s about dragracing.

1. D or OD or manual shift the TH700

2. Smash the pedal or slowly press it to the floor?

3. Spinning 1'gear or not?

Thanks/N

Aiming for 11's when I have $$ for a pro-built TH700..

First of all a 700R4 is a poor choice for drag racing. It's a street tranny. First gear is too low and the spread between first and second is to far apart for drag racing. The 1-2 shift drops too far out of the powerband. It's heavy and you'll never use OD in the 1/4 mile.

Since the majority of drag racing is bracket racing speed means nothing. You want to do everything to make the car consistant.

Using D instead of OD is suppose to have higher line pressures. Manually shifting can make the car faster but you have to shift at the same rpm every time to be consistant.

Use drag tires and smash the pedel. If you spin the tires in first gear or slowly push the throttle there's no way to get consistant.

If you are actually bracket racing, just pick d or od and keep it there, If you are doing test and tune, shifting it yourself should make the car faster.
