Shooting for 10's
I have an 87 iroc-z that I am building. It has a ford 9' with every last thing hotckis suspension makes. I have 50/50 rear shocks and some really really stiff front shocks (not at all sure on the rate In just know they are hard to push down) fuel cell, roll cage, and pretty much every other little chasis thing I would need. My rear end gear ratio is 373 and I plan on running a th350 tranny with 3500stall and a transbrake. I have a 406 small block with all forged internals, 10:1 compression, dart iron eagle heads, and I should be running between 150-200 shot of nitrous. It will be on m/t et streets.
I have set my goal to be in the 10's on the bottle and 11's off. Am I being a bit to optomistic about this? If I am what else should I look for to get me in the 10's? BTW, machine shop said my engine should be pushing 500 horse n/a if that helps any.

Having 700 hp won't get you 10's unless you can get the power to the ground. A fast car just isn't about hp. First of all it helps if you make the car as light as possible. A lighter car will go faster with the same hp as a heavy car plus it won't be so hard of parts.
Building a fast car just isn't about building a big engine. The entire car must be built up to handle all that power and transfer as much power as possible to the rear wheels which must stick to the ground.
Right now from everything you've mentioned, I'd guess for a low to mid 12's car. It all depends on your combination of parts. An engine estimate hp is just an estimate. There's a drivetrain power loss which will reduce just how much gets to the tires. If you can get 500 to the tires then 11's shouldn't be a problem.
Stiff front shocks? Get some Koni SPA1 drag struts. Pushing down means nothing. A front shock has to allow the front end to rise to help with weight transfer.
What camshaft? What intake/fuel system? Rear gear ratio? Street legal heavy car or stripped down full race car?

I know they are a drag strut, I am jsut not to sure of the rate. With the old motor the car went 11.1 all motor. I am not to sure on weight. I got rid of the rear seats, all the sound proofing, gas tank, heater, and jsut about every other little thing I could. I have a 4" fiberglass cowl hood lexan t tops no head liner and it will have weld prostar wheels with skinny's up front and 10.5 slicks for the trck or 10.5 m/t et streets for normal driving (which will be once a saturday night)
suspension has boxed lca's from hotchkis, as well as their panhard bar and all the other good stuff they make. I have a custom tq arm that is really really beefy, 90/10 rear shocks, progressive rate springs.
For a fuel system I have a 22 gallon fuel cell mounted in the cargo area with 10an send and 8an return lines. Holley volumax pump pushing them. Holley 750 double pumper carb and victor jr intake. Cam is a comp cams nitrous hp cam 284/305 duration and .507/525 lift. The dart iron eagle heads have been ported and polished decently.
