Friday night, it was the last race of the season in the Bandimere "Club Clash" series (clubs come out and run off our street muffler/DOT cars in one big class). Usually over 400 cars show up. Often hard to complete the race because of a midnight curfew. But, 2 weeks ago, I managed to win in 9 rounds.

Quick run-down of points system: 100 points for showing up, 101 points per round won, 1 bonus point for quarter final, 2 for semi, 3 for runner up, 4 to winner.

Going into the night, I'm in 2nd place with 2525 points. 1st place guy has 2725 points.

1st round, I win, guy in 1st place red-lights. All right, one more win & I'm in first place, just have to stay ahead of the rest of the pack!

2nd round, guy in 3rd loses. I'm in staging lanes, and it starts to sprinkle. Shut down, wait for it to quit. I'm in the 18th pair waiting to run. Drys up, 4 pairs run when it starts raining again.

10:30, it's coming down pretty steady, track is shiny wet. Going to take at least an hour to dry after it stops now.

10:45, they call it. Still sprinkling, won't be able to dry in time to make any more runs. All 2nd round results so far will be thrown out, season is finished with 1st round results.

So, I finish 2nd for the season 99 points behind 1st.

That's racing, I guess. Still, farthest up I've finished in a season since 1981 (in Germany).

We were both out there today for the final two days of racing. I saw him in the staging lanes and suggested that. He didn't bite.

If we had ended up tied, then there would have been a run-off. But, as it was, a tie wasn't possible. And, since this was actually a make-up race for a snow-out last May, no way they're going to schedule another race.
