first trip to the track
first trip to the track
finally got a few passes in at the track, and i was kind of disapointed
i dont really know how to luanch the car yet, especially with the new 4.10 rear.
3.002 60'
1/8 10.17 @ 77.63 mph
1/4 15.1 @ 99.57
that was my fisrt time ever racing at a track, i do have a faster time slip, but i missed 4th gear twice
so im not counting the run.
either i get absolutly no traction, or so much that the car bogs down terribly....
does my car have potential to hit 13's? that was my goal with this engine.
is all im lacking now a good luanch, or dont i have enough power to run 13's?

Tranny?
4.10 gears and a 700R4 is a huge starting line ratio of 12.56. You're going to need really good traction to keep from spinning with that much torque multiplication.
I currently have 4.56 gears. When I used a TH400 my starting line ratio was only 11.30 and now that I use a powerglide it's a very slow 8.02. After a gear swap this winter it's going to be an even worse 7.56 but then I also have a lot of torque to overcome the poor starting line ratio. My last 60' times were 1.54's and I expect them to be a little slower in the spring with the new 4.30 gears.
You might just be overpowering the tires. You're going to need some slicks if you expect to hook up at all and get those 60' times down.

Out of curiousity, what track did you take it too?
i have a T5...i just switched out my 3.42 for the 4.10, which made the car stay in the power band a ton better....
i think i am going to try using some DR's next time i go. i tried a set of slicks, but since i didnt want to break the T5, i didnt launch very hard at all and the car bogged down badly. i got a 2.4 60' with that run, but then missed 4th gear (not once, but twice
) and ran a 14.6 at 92 mph.
how much will a torque arm increase traction? thats about all that i am lacking for suspension mods.
i ran the car at Stanton, for the M8 event.

Tires will lower your times more than suspension upgrades will at this point. I would be careful how well you get it hooking up with a t-5 though.
