Sorry to ask one of the most commonly ask questions basically, i have did a search and i think i should be in the 13's somewhere, could anyone give me a better idea, here is my car...

355 C.i motor, Th350 tranny with street or strip shift kit, 3.73 posi rear, open element air cleaner, K&N air filter, edelbrock performer carb 600cfm,edelbrock performer intake.dual plane, headers, 3" exhaust, 80 series flowmasters, HEI super coil, HEI distributor, thats about it. The motor is earlier 70's i think. It definatly feels strong, it will pin me in my seat pretty good. Thanks. Everything else is what came on the motor, what kinda mods would wake this thing up best? OH yeah and it has a semi hot cam, i dunno the duration or anything right now ( im building another motor for the car anyways) im just wondering what this would run. I can run it right now cause im painting it. Thanks

 

May be able to hit high 13s..What kinda tires are you gonna use?

How "early 70s"? Compression could be 10:1 or 8:1..hard to tell.
As for mods....a set of aftermarket or vortec heads and a cam to match may be the way to go. Also, some sticky tires and suspension upgrades may be the next move for the car.

Also, why would you wanna wake this thing up when you are building a new motor anyways? Just curious.

Im not sure on the tires yet, what kinda suspension upgrades? other than SBC's. The reason i want to wake it up, it the motor is going into another vehicle once i pull it from this one. The motor was just built about 1K miles ago.

 

I am not a suspension expert, but guys usually do:
Torque Arm
Lower Control Arms
Panhard Bar
Remove Front Sway Bar (at track)

What kinda motor are you building and what are your goals?

 

Ill prolly end up building a 350, make it a 383 and put a 6-71 blower on it. I want me car to be kinda a weekend toy/street rod (if a 84 Z can be a street rod) i would love to have the car into the 11's.

 

get a 1" 4 hole spacer, 750DP, and stickies, you'll be high 13's and maybe mid 13's.

 

Shoot i forgot i have a stall convertor, 2200-2500, i can stall to about 2300 ok.
