I was just curious. Some kid with a Mustang is telling me that his car runs a 12.494 @108.73 Could this be right? I think it is a little low on the speed. Is he full of it or am I just wrong?

When I had a 383 stroker with 3.27 gears I ran 12.0 at 117 mph because the gearing was wrong.

It all depends how well the gearing is matched to the rest of the powertrain. Normally a 12.0 car will run 106-112 but that means you're maxed right out as you cross the finish line.

 

Yes, it is more than likely true. I've seen 12.40-12.50 cars running the same mph as that kids Mustang.
