In case you're wondering, "What the heck is he talking about?", see https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=284571

1st T&T of the season today, cool, brisk tail-wind, perfect to try for that magic 100 MPH timeslip. But, didn't get out there until 2 p.m. with a 5 p.m. shut-down time.

Preps: Removed engine driven fan and shroud, replaced with electric; small 14" front tires and moved the normally front 15" to back, open headers. Tuned, fresh fluids, 50 lbs lighter than "typical" last season.

Low RPM launch, still no traction, horrible 60', go slowly from side to side in the lane to "lengthen" the run, all it would do was 97.53. So, put the slicks back on, poor launch (much better 60', though), 97.43. I gave up, didn't figure the 40 lbs of the front seat or any other "radical" measures was going to cut it in the time I had left. Even with the cool temp and tail wind, the DA was still well over 8000', and I simply didn't have time to monkey with it and get runs in. 2 more runs done more "normally", both sub-97.

So, maybe another day. Maybe another car...

Oh, one bright spot: Did manage a best ET for a "warm" day on the 3rd run. Other than the first no-traction run, all were sub-14's (unlike last year). Well, maybe another - I'd been running the Hoosiers at too low of a pressure, apparently.

That may be my last T&T opportunity before season starts April 22nd (work, family responsibilities).

Maybe the key for you to do it in the '57 will the the extrernal factors - temperature, humidity, if Colorado slid into the ocean...

Right now the track is on the side of a hill. They're looking for a new location. I suggested they dig down about 5000', they didn't bite.
