I'm ready again
I fired the car up today to get things ready for this weekend. It didn't take much to fire up after sitting for a week or so. Alcohol engines are always hard to fire up when they're cold. Once it started, it idled nicely at around 1200 rpm and no eye burning alcohol fumes.
A ran it for a while checking things out and doing some tweeking then decided to give a couple of 4500 rpm transbrake stalls. The engine sounds good but I just about blew out my ear drums in the garage even with the big door open. Time to start wearing ear plugs in the car. I shut it down very happy, filled the fuel cell, and buttoned everything up. As long as the rain holds up, I'm now ready to go racing again.

I'm looking for an LS1/LT1 electric smog pump if anyone has one that they're willing to part with for cheap!

Glad to hear that you're ready to roll. Hopefully you guys get a sunny day tomorrow so it dries up!
Is there a T&T and a race for you this weekend? It would be ncie to get some shakedown passes on the new mill.

T&T, what's that? From the schedule, there's no such thing this year. OK I was wrong. The Saturday night I first went out was actually a T&T night.
This weekend. Saturday. Gates open at 1PM. Tech opens at 3. On track for time trials around 5:30. First round of eliminations at 7pm.
Sunday. Gates open at 8AM. Time trials usually start around 9:30. First round of eliminations at 1PM.
That's the weekend format for the rest of the race weekends. No time to actually do T&T unless you don't want to compete. If you manage to go out in the first round, you can squeeze in a few T&T passes between rounds if they can fit you in. Normally, you have to wait until the later rounds when they're giving the cars time to cool off. In the early rounds, there's not usually much of a break between classes.

I hope to get some new pics of the car this weekend but not much has changed since last fall except the hole in the cowl for the carbs to poke through. Here's a new pic of the engine. The block isn't that light blue any more. It's been painted semi-gloss black this time.
