Carnage at the track
We had the biggest race in year at our track this weeekend. On Friday night our local F-Body club was the guest club at the street legal race. On my 4th pass at the end of the night I piled up the rear end. I guess 1.63 is as fast as I could get a completely stock 10-bolt to go. Looks like its 9" time this winter. We have a double race weekend in 3 weeks to finish the season so I am going to look for a temporary fix. The best I have lined up right now is a cheap 3.08 posi 10-bolt. That should slow me down a good 4/10ths!
Being as I was #3 in Sportsman and #4 in Street going into the weekend and it was our huge 40th anniversary celebration I wanted to race regardless of the fact that my car was broken so I brought out my 01 Malibu familymobile. I am sure I got poked fun of by some fans and one of the announcers kept saying that I had broken my "rear engine" the night before. I got treed in round one on Sportsman but ended up winning the Street class so it wasn't too bad of a day. Hopefully I have time to get the TA back together for the Sept 10th Street Legal grudge day so I can test out whatever new rear end I have.

When you're in the top 5 in a points series and still have a shot at the title, you do whatever you can to get points even if it means having to borrow someone elses car.
A couple of years ago, during the last race of the season, one of the drag bike racers broke his bike in the first round and still got a win. One of the other racers who went out in the first round and wasn't in the points hunt, lent him the bike and he went of to win the event and the championship. Not bad for having to drive a vehicle/bike that you're not used to.
What broke in the diff?

I didn't think you were allowed to switch cars ones eliminations started?
I am not sure what broke in the diff. I am super busy with work/wedding this next week so I'll pull it apart when when I take it out next week. I lined up a spare from Igor on performance ship to finish out the year with. Hopefully I can run good the last 2 races!

i know the feeling. a broken rear in my old 91RS was how i ended up chasing points in my 84 cavalier daily driver one year. they can make all the jokes they want, at consistant 19.6's that thing was tough to beat.

I could be mistaken and his bike broke during time trials. I just know he won the event on someone else's bike.
It's the driver racing for points, not the vehicle. You could go out every week in a different car if you want.

Points are updated and I am #1 in Street and #4 now in Sportsman. I am hoping for #1 or 2 in Street and a #3 finish in Sportsman!
