Need some suggestions
Hey guys/gals.... just wanted to put this out here to get everyone's comments on why my car is not running the 1/4 mile times I think it should.... then again maybe I am running the 1/4 mile times that is OK for my car....
First here is what I have done...sorry for the long read
- new 350 engine installed with about 500 miles put on it... this engine has been bored 40 over and has flat top pistons (4 valve reliefs) installed.
- heads are the stock L98 heads that have been ported out as far as they will go.
- 3.27 gears in the rear
- Hedman headers (1 5/8 prims, 3 inch collectors).. dumping straight back to a Flowmaster 80 muffler...no cat
- injectors are stock 22 lb'ers that were serviced/flowed/ and matched
- Crane AFPR installed
- Walbro 255LPh high flow pump
- Upper TPI plenum has been ported... two K&N filters feed the plenum and a ram air setup has been installed (uses the stock intake, with the air boxes chopped and piping installed to scoop the air in through the front
- 2800 stall torque converter installed... it gets a realistic 2400 true brake stall
- stock throttle body.
- 1.6 roller rockers installed.... brings my stock cam specs to around 440/430 lift
- suspension is done over with SFC's, solid rear lca's, adj. PHB, lowering springs.
- transmission (700R4) has been pulled and rebuilt with all the good parts (kevlar power band, Red Alto clutch packs, Vette servo, 0.500 boost valve, Trans-go shift kit)
- All of the free mods, like TB by-pass, etc etc
- Set of ET Streets Drag Radials
That's all of the things I can think of.... so here are my times...
Best pass of the day... cool day (around 60 F)... this was with the car I Drive and letting the tranny do the work.....shifting at around 5300 rpms
14.484 ET @ 94.08 MPH...
60 foot - 1.988
330 foot - 5.953
660 foot - 9.244
1000 foot - lights screwed up and never captured it.
I also made a pass power shifting her.... all the way to 5500 on each shift..
14.699 @ 93.38 MPH ... 1.953 sixty foot....
That pass wasn't perfect, in 1st gear as she was climbing up through her rpms she stumbled and fell flat on her face at around 4500.. I kept my foot into it and she regained herself and buzzed up to 5500, the 2nd and 3rd gears were OK, no stumble..
I have been fighting a weird stumbling problem that seems to strike most often in the morning when she's cold but did act up on me at the track while in the pits... I was playing with the fuel pressure when it started to act up, after tweaking the fuel pressure back down it seemed to correct itself, but that isn't conclusive because she regains herself without any intervention so me playing with the FP could have been a coincidence.
I need to know where to start looking for what I feel is lost HP (I have the TTS Datamaster software and a ALDL cable but am having problems getting it to talk to the ECM)... I am sure that my setup can run better than this....there has to be lots of Iroc's running better times than I am in stock trim!!
What do you think is a reasonable goal to shoot for with this setup??

Hogged out L98 heads and a stock TPI base and runners doesn't help.
Ignition timing?
