need help hooking?

i went back this week to the track. i cant get the car to hook at all much. i tryed psi in tires no help got worse. but i got a lil beter time 12.937@105.05 .but my 60ft was 1.898. this weekend im going to run open headers and pull the front sway bar. and i really think my exhaust holding me back bc its only 2 1/2 single and is kind dead heads not y in. so i hope to pick some tenths maybe off that. but i really need help to get her to hook?

Re: need help hooking?

uh what tires and maybe a little bit of info about what you have would help.....yes removing the front sway bar will help i dont know about the exhaust, i can guess it will make more power but i just dont see it helping the traction problems

Re: need help hooking?

18-20psi in the tires and see what it can do, this is where real slicks would help over drag radials on a non-perfect suspension setup.

Re: need help hooking?

How old are the tires? Tire pressure? How well is the track prepped?

Re: need help hooking?

removing the front sway bar will help in 2 ways , gets rid of some weight, and it allows the front to extend more freely putting more weight on the rear tires, also try avoiding the water box and just do a few dry hops to clean the tires

Re: need help hooking?

well, haha, you gotta run 28 spline axles. aftermarket are not necessary, because when you have the power to break factory 28splines, you'll break the aftermarket as well, lol!

solid pinon spacer is a must

quality gears, whether it be motive, or gm

good quality posi.

stud girdle/aluminum cover is nice, not necessary...i'm gonna pick another one up for mine for piece of mind since i'm sticking with my 10 bolt.

that's about it.

Re: need help hooking?

you'll need to find some 89.5-92 axles. they were 28 splines and much stronger. but unfortunately, if you're running a posi, you'll need to come up with the appropriate 28spline carrier as well...unless you can swap out the gears that have the splines on them...but is that worth the hassle/cost?

Re: need help hooking?

sounds liek you got the combo for hooking. just replace the front struts and you should be good to go. LCA's with brackets and good shocks/springs are really the two big suspension mods i'd do for hooking up and seem to be the most important. then again i have stiff "road handling" style springs with adjustable shocks. kinda not drag orientated but i got good tires and lca's all the way down with adj torque arm with about -2.5-3 degrees pinion angle. seems to work good for me. didnt break the 10 bolt yet

Re: need help hooking?

would it hold a pass at all car fixer?

yes i have brackets and i set them all the way down since my car is lowered and with the taller slicks, the lca's sit just below the line parrallel with the ground
