What do you all think?

I have a 1987 trans am, not sure whether it is a WS-6 or not. But I have a 4.56 gear, TH-400 3800 Stall, 10.5-1 355, Dart Pro 1 Platinum 215 CC Runners 2.05 1.60 64 CC chambers. Lunati Voodoo Cam 284/292 at .50, .525/.546 with 1.5 rockers. I have 1.6 full roller rockers so I'm not sure what the lift and stuff is now. Edelbrock RPM air gap, 750 Double Pumper, 125 Sniper Nitrous System, and a stock Ignition. Any idea what it will run or horsepower numbers. I know the heads are a little big, but I am getting parts together to build a 383, I also have Hoosier 26X9X15 Slicks on a 15X8 wheel. I don't know what it weighs so I'm guessing somewhere around 3200, I puled everything out. No air box, fuel cell, two front racing seats all the under dash wiring. I am working on switching to mechanical gauges. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Re: What do you all think?

so many views with no replies, I`ll take a stab...for one I hope your running the 1/8 with this thing, but for HP I`d Guess around 400-425 and I`d think you would trap around 114-117mph with the right gearing high 11.`s in the 1/4.... high 7`s in the 1/8....basing this on the race weight of around 3300-3400 #`s

Re: What do you all think?

With 26" tall tires, I think you have too much gear unless you're spinning the engine to at least 7500 rpm. 4.10 gears or even 3.73 would be a better choice unless you plan on going to at least a 28" tall tire.

Over the years I switched tire and gear sizes a lot. Always keeping the shift point in the 6800-7200 range. My current engine floats the valves at 7800 but the power curve really starts to drop off above 7200.

3.27 gears - 26" tires - original poor combination
4.10 - 26, 27.5 and 28" tires
4.56 - 29.5 and 32" tires
4.89 - 32" tires.

Re: What do you all think?

Thaks for the info. Yeah I plan on running 1/8, Well the slicks are left over from another car. I was going to get 28" slicks, but Ii wasn't sure if they were going to fit or not, so whenever I get new ones I will get the taller tire. Right now I ma just trying to get everything lined out and hopefully I will have it everything rewired and one color by spring.

28 x 9 slicks fit with little if any modifications.

Re: What do you all think?

Yeah, there is gobs of room in there, but I was running a 1980 impala, oddly enough there wasn't as much room in the wheel well as you would think, I still probably could have fit the 28, but I wasn't sure at the time. When I got this car I've just been moving everything over.
