Pinks All Out St. Louis
Anybody on get sighned up? A bunch of my buddys and my son made the 400 car count tonight. So I guess I'll be hauling my son down to St.Louis in June. Ought to be fun. My buddys car is a 70 Chevelle, sb runs 5.80 1/8 all motor. My son car only runs 7.30s 1/8. Going to be fun to see if either one makes it to the final 16.

One in 25 chance of making the 16.
For the run here in August, they sold out in something like 16 minutes. It was actually 16 minutes after the announced opening of sales. A computer error allowed people to get on and enter before the announced opening (of course, nobody would cheat and sign up before they were supposed to be able to . . .
). As a result of the response, they're having a drawing for 25 more entries at the end of March - if you didn't get in the 400, you can submit your name on a 3x5 card and they'll hold the drawing on a local radio's morning show. Weird stuff.
St. Louis isn't 1/8 mile, is it?
I still have the problem of getting my car below the required 12.99 at our 5800' altitude. I'm sure I'll have that solved by August, though.

No, St.Louis is 1/4 mile. I wasn't planning on going, but since my son and my buddys are going. I'm the mechanic on my sons car, looks like I'll be going. It will be interesting. I'm an older fellow and don't care to run 1/4 miles anymore. I'll have my car switched over to a glide by then and won't be able to run the 1/4 anyways. I'm running a 5.67 gear now, and don't want to change it for just 1 weekend. I'm not really fond of arm or flag starts either. Went through that back in the 60s. The tree was the best thing since TV.

I'm registered and going. I'll be there representing the 3rd genners with my LS1 GTA. I'll be running somewhere in the 10 second field... gonna be fun.

I seen your car make a couple passes. Real impressive. How much do you drive it on the street? My sons car only ran 11.68 @ 117 mph, but he was very happy. That's the main thing. Once in a lifetime experiance. I'd never go through the exspence to do it again. Cost me too much for just 3 passes, but it was a fun weekend. We didn't stay for the show. A couple of the guys we went down with got picked for the fast 16, and 2 of those drivers didn't show up for the interview. So they picked the 16 cars from the slower field. Rick and his dad were both in the 9.60s. I didn't know anybody from that field so we came home early. We'll watch it on tv in sept.
