New additions...can I get my tgt et?

For those of you who have followed....My last run at the track was a disappointing 12.89 @107 mph. Not bad for a 350....but sucking for a 385! Well about a month after that run, my 700R4 took a crap on me. I had seriously considered going th350 but decided against it and gave Performabuilt a shot at having a decent transmission. Along with the new transmission, I ordered a 3600 stall converter and ditching the S10 converter that flashed around 2300 RPMS.

Some new additions (I am hoping), are Spohn LCARBS and the Edelbrock Torque Arm that has been in my possession for years. I also am debating on if I should go ahead and install the SLP 1 3/4 headers and convert my exhaust to the single cat (3"in/3"out of course).

Just like last time, my car will be sitting on a pair of MT ET Streets 26" on a set of IROC 16x8 wheels(thank you Orr).

Who thinks I can get my goal of 12.00?

i'd say the headers and stall will help, but 12.0 might not be in the realm of what you can get out of it with that mph. You're looking more for 115 or so to crack a 12.0

some thing is wrong in your tune....or my car is a freak...i can get 110-112mph on my 357...with less head, smaller cam, small carb(untuned) and we weight about the same...or about the same...but my 60' are in the 1.67-68range...

i could be wrong

ditch the headers.. how does the 60ft look like?? that will tell the tail.. get that in the 1.6's.. other than launch and headers, looks like a stout combo.. maybe a tune??

EDIT: ok i saw the 60ft in your sig.. 1.97 is pretty bad.. i know people on regular street tires running faster 60ft's.. but like i said, you need those in the 1.6-1.7 range..

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
yep the stall and headers are gonna make the difference. 1 3/4 shorties will help over the 1 5/8's but long tubes are really needed for that 385. single 3inch catback may also be hurting alittle but you still should be cutting better 60's and lower 12's

stall will knock off probly .3-.4. Maybe abit more. once you hook in the 1.6 range which that car should do easily, you'll go bottom 12's high 11's

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
I have a set of longtubes sitting next to me, but nobody around here was willing to make me a custom y pipe, connecting to my 3" magnaflow. I have thought about doing true duals, but I need to have cats where I am at (or at least the shells). So I was stuck with going shorty route. I wanted a set of Dyno Don's 1 3/4 header, but money was pretty short, so I settled for SLP 1 3/4.

I am hoping that not only the converter and headers make a big difference, but the suspension upgrades too! like 5678TA said, I need that 60ft time down. I am selling my 373's though. I have run out of cash to spend on this thing (wife wont let me spend anymore on it before I leave haha).

I was goofing around on gmhightechperformance and I found this.....http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...mes/index.html

Granted, its a 396, but they are using the same cam xr276....slp 1 3/4 headers....they are using slp catback I believe.....I have Magnaflow....I looked for what stall they were using but I couldnt find it. Hopefully my 3600 will be enough!

Edit: If my converter flashes at 3600 with 323's in the rear and I change the gears to 373's, would that make the flash go higher or lower?? If it makes it go higher, I might have to find the cash to make this thing into low low low 12's.

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
installing a numberically higher gear will lower the flahs point since you will now have gear reduction on your side as opposed to the converter slipping since you dont have nearly enough gear like right now.

ya want lower ET's, gear it lower...that's how the super stock boyz get it done since most of your ET is figured well before the helf track mark...you make it to half track quickly, you will have a good ET cuz ya dont spend much time on the back half of the track.....get a time slip, break down incrementals and you will see for your self

how much time to go from:
0-60'
60'-330'
330'-660'
660'-1000'
1000'-1320'

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
I know this might be a bit of a newb question but i'll ask it anyways...nothing to lose...once the slp 1 3/4 headers are installed, would it be worth the $300 or more to get the car retuned?
My best dyno run is 340rwhp and 350rwtq. That was with the transmission slipping like a **** and the stock converter.

i think it would help. every little bit helps but i hear the edelbrock TES system is pretty crappy compared to other shorties/ypipes.

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
Well I found a few things out when replacing the transmission.....the torque arm was barely on the tailshaft of the old transmission.....and it wasnt even the right tailshaft! The bushing on the stock torque arm was worn out (expected but confirmed). Hopefully I can get low 1.7 60 footers

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
i felt like there should be more power in that setup, so if you add new exhaust and all that, i would get a new tune

although new 3.73's will really wake up that car....... that is a tough question to answer

Get a TH350 with high stall and we wont be having this conversation at all!

Re: New additions...can I get my tgt et?
well before i went with the Performabuilt package of their trans and converter, Andy from Edge converters said 3600 would be a good converter. I have now changed my mind to go to Longtubes. Hedman 1 5/8 longtubes to my Magnaflow 3" catback.
