Results from first track visit
Alright, I finally got out to the track tonight. Weather called for rain, but I risked it, glad I did.
I got 3 runs in with the tired ole 305.
Specs:
85 Camaro
LG4
KN Filter
AC Delete
Smog Delete
Hooker 2460 headers
Dynomax 2.5 inch cat-back
Shift Improver kit in 700r4
3.42 posi rear
No carpet, rear seats,rear plastics
running 245/50/16s all around, Falken Ziex Street tires
Alright now for the times.
The first run Ive ever made, botched it like mad.
Reaction time :.465
60 Foot :2.570
1/4 ET : 16.107
MPH :88.21
Second run was much better time.
Reaction time :.611
60 Foot :2.179
1/4 ET : 15.165
MPH : 88.97
Last run was alright, beat the 300 horse Altima in the right lane!!
Reaction time :.003
60 Foot :2.351
1/4 ET : 15.334
MPH : 89.51
The last run it was starting to sprinkle so I called it a day, Im reasonably happy with these numbers considering its a 305. I had no traction issues whatsoever after the first run (third run had a little bit but the track was getting damp) it was about 60 degrees with 78 percent humidity.
So were these good times? Where should I go from here? Im already getting ready to build a 350, but are there any cheap mods to be done to the LG4 to drop my time?

HP is consistent by comparing the MPH. Traction is an issue looking at those 60' times.
It's making roughly 190 uncorrected hp estimating a 3300 pound race weight.

I'd be looking to get that 350 together. I was going to try to give some suggestions to make that car faster but i'm not sure what to even do. MAybe put in a cheap jegs cam ($50) and put in a 2400 stall converter and a pair of drag radials. You would get it into the low 14's i'm sure?

Well, if he was goig to stick with the 305, i would give some suggestions, but he is going 5.7, so there really is no point in wasting money besides a nitrous kit.

Also, is there anyway to make it shift into 4 at WOT, this was killing my time, I had to let off so it would shift then get back on it.

the single 2.5" dynomax exhaust could be a choking point, and it will be a choking point when you put the bigger motor in so go ahead and upgrade that and you should see some pretty decent gains.

Also would a HEI Incap supercoil help me out at all? There a very good chance I would be reusing it on the 350 anyways.

You can do a few additional things for cheap HP:
Electric fans if you have a clutch fan
Underdrive pulley
Tune carb using an A/F gauge

What exactly to underdrive pulleys do? Are they good or bad for the street? Its something I am interested in seeing as I can reuse them on the 350 when I do the swap. Also I am gonna try to get a quote on an exhaust today sometime. Im also currently looking for another 700r4 to build myself, seeing as mine is messing up the 2-3 **** really badly, revs to the sky, I have to let off for it to shift.

You don't want to go into OD. You want a different gear in the diff so you cross the finish line at or just before you need to shift to OD. A taller tire will also help. The ones you have now are less than 26" tall.
