Just wondering what else I would need for my new nitrous setup. I have a blow down tube but I know thats not everything. We have a IHRA and NHRA track somewhat close by so I'm curious what the rules are to run nitrous in a hatchback car.

 

If the bottle is in the driver's compartment which is anywhere inside a third gen, you need a blowdown tube. That's it. Other than that, it's whatever safety rules are required to use nitrous such as a thermostatically controlled bottle warmer etc.

What else would you think there should be. There's nothing specific about mounting the bottle in the car other than having a blowdown tube. All the other safety stuff required for NOS is the same in every car. The most important is that you should have a WOT switch so that the NOS can not be activated unless the throttle is at WOT. The switch can be mounted on the carb, throttle body or mounted on the throttle pedal linkage under the dash. As soon as you back out of WOT any amount, the NOS shuts off. It prevents you from blowing the engine by trying to use NOS at part throttle, idle etc.

 

Yeah it's setup with a WOT microswitch and I'm using a activation switch on the dash as well so I can run it WOT without it turning on.
