Another crappy nite at the 1/4 5/5
So, as I add what I think would be good complimenting parts to my car, my times have gotten worse. I was running 14.2 consistently with stock converter and stock 3:23 gears in my car and with no CAI. Since then I have added a 12" 2600-2800 converter, 3:70 gears, and a custom CAI that draws air from outside of the engine compartment. After just the TC, from Transmission Specialties, I went up to 14.8 at 91 MPH. I made 4 runs all in the 14.8's and 14.7's. OK, so then I thin maybe the TC needs some more gear, so I throw 3:70's in the 9 bolt. So I go to the track tonight and run a best of 14.653 with a 2.011 60ft topping out at 92.69 MPH. WTF I am so confused right now. Any ideas or help would be seriously appreciated because I am at a loss.

did your mph go up after the changes?
also what was your 60' for each of those runs? Sounds like you're spinning the tires at the launch pretty badly. Toss some 26x10 ET drags on there and I bet it'll drop the times rather quickly. Something doesn't add up, the gears and converter should have lowered your times considerably. You should be cutting 1.8 60' at least, which would be a drop of .3 to .4 off your ET

Depends a lot on track prep also. Even with slicks, you can spin off the line if there's no traction compound on the surface.
Your 60' times got slower as you dropped tire pressure. Try starting at 35 psi and slowly drop the pressure. Tire pressure change should be done in 1/2 pound increments. 1-2 pounds of change can skip right over a sweet spot. You jumped 9 then 4 psi. Radials don't like low pressure. The sidewalls are too stiff and if the pressure is too low, the center of the tire can roll off the surface leaving you with less surface contact.

I think you might be on to something with the track prep. My best times were at another track about twice the siaze as our local one.
