First race with the LS1/T56
Should have been the 3rd race, but after breaking the driveshaft the first race and discovering the beefed-up 10-bolt gears were toast the day before the 2nd race, finally made it out for the 3rd scheduled race.
Was supposed to be just running the stick shift class, but I had to sideline the '57 due to a spun bearing. So, I ended up running 3 classes in a "new" car. That wasn't all bad, because I got 6 time trials in it instead of just 2, so I was able to sort out a couple of things before making the call for first round.
This is my last run (3rd round) in the Stick Shift class. That '57 in the other lane is sweet - 400 SBC, full steel, runs high 10's at 5800' elevation (DA was about 8000' at that time).

Had the light on him, just backed off a tick too late. . .

man that's so cool. i'm running on a borrowed powerglide right now so my transmission options are kind of open...i really wished i had the money to put a jerhico in the car with a v-gate. still a stick car, but shifts more like a manual valve bodied auto once you get out of the hole.

I haven't had a chance to talk to him about details, but I'm sure he has a Jerico in that '57. He's taken over a second off his ET's since I first saw him come out to the track last year.
It was interesting racing "old school". Well, old school "ish", since I was running an EFI car. The Holley carb'd/tranny braked/spooled drag race car racers were talking about its consistency Saturday. With the 2-step, it was almost like running a tranny brake car (well, what I assume a tranny brake car feels like, I've never driven one). After I figured out how to leave, that is. Don't need to worry about heating up your converter with this one, though.
I'm still planning on getting the '57 back on the track this season, hopefully by this weekend. Going to see what a 468 feels like. . .

Actually, it was spinning at the hit every pass. Best 60' was a 2.01, that pass was a 2.03. Should be more like 1.8's. Need to do some suspension adjustments to see if I can get it to improve. If not, I'll need to make suspension hardware changes.
Yes, I broke out. I needed to stay on the brakes for 0.001 sec longer. 3 of the 5 races that round were lost by break-out. He won the next round by break-out as well - everyone else was picking up, he was slowing down.
