Well if you have a 5 speed I would dump the clutch around 3 grand and if you have an auto load the torque converter to 2500 or so if you can do it without spinning the tires. Then when the lights turn green let go of the brake and since your rpm are already at 2500 you will jump slightly off the line, then put your foot to the floor and never let up. You should probably go to a parking lot and practice this first. Practice gettin into the gas after you let off the brake. Too fast and you will spin to hard, not enough and you will bog that little 305 of yours. GOOD LUCK!!!

Since you're new, just go to have fun. Watch what others are doing first to see where the starting line is etc. When you finally get ready and the car is staged, the 3 yellow lights will come down 1/2 second appart. When you see the last yellow light come on, GO! By the time you and the car react, the light will be green and you should get a good reaction time.
