how to stage?????
how to stage?????
i have been doing some expierimenting with my staging. does anyone have a favorite style of getting into the bulbs? my latest favorite is to roll into the pre-stage beems and them hold just enough pressure on the brake peddle to keep the car still and then i tap the gas until the car is just barely into the full stage. this is the easiest way i have found to stage super shallow, and do it consistantly.
what do you guys like?

thats definatley my favorite way to run a good ET, but I can see it being a bad idea in bracket racing. Launching off the break is the only way to go!

NJ: I know a lot of racers that do it that way. It just takes lots of practice to get staged in the same spot every time. I've never tryed it myself. I inch up to the prestage light. Once lit I idle up to stage. As soon as the stage light is on I stop. Probably not as acurate as the way you're doing it but that's how I've done it for years. Could also be why I get so many red lights trying to nail the tree. What I really need is a taller front tire. The 165R15 tires are only 25.5" tall. A 28" tall front tire will give a bigger rollout.
either a bigger tire or just drop like 5psi out of the fronts, makes them roll heavier at first. i do it when i am having death ray worries
i used to have a hell of a time with red lights until i learned how to stage really shallow. as far as being consistant one day at the end of last season i went 1.937,1.932,1.933,1.938,1.929(ended up going .007 under, damn!!)
that was the best i ever felt while staging a car

most serious bracket guys will run a stage gauge (brake pressure gauge) and stage with 900psi on a line lock and drive the front wheels into the stage lights. bear in mind that if you run a trans brake, the car will sometimes rock a little and may pull out of the stage beams if shallow staged. (automatic red light once both cars are staged)
