Consistent Times

All right fella's. In about two weeks there is an annual drag racing competition between the high schools in the area. A bunch of buddies and myself are all going to compete. The competition is all bracket racing, so I was wondering what I could do to help myself and my school win the trophy. What are some good tips to running consistent times? Thankyou Twells

The most consistent thing I own is my 88 f250 in drive, not shifting it. Last fall it ran(in the 8th) 11.79, 11.78, 11.79, 11.80. If I wanted to win money I would be running my truck every weekend. I am more in to speed though.

Shooting for low 12's.

Your best bet is to limit your tire spin on your launch. As stated above if you have a nice 4 or 6 cyl. that wont spin at all at the strip and you'll be within .01 sec on every run. There is a guy that does that here with a Saturn.

Last year our Sportsman class winner drove a 99 Tahoe. With the traction control on he had no tire spin and ran consistant 18 second 1/4s. Speed means nothing in a bracket race.

the best thing to do is to work on your game from behind the line. if you learn to stage the same or really close every time then that in itself will lead to more consistant et's. i find it easiest to stage shallow tobe consistant. just barely turning the bulbs on i think is the best way to do this. then just find a way to react to the third yellow that you can repeat over and over and you'll be set.
hope this helps.
