Cannot get any traction....swap my 3:73s for my original 3:42s?
Cannot get any traction....swap my 3:73s for my original 3:42s?
I was doing a few 0-60 runs on the GTECH today on street tires. I'll put it this way. The car was sideways in 1st , 2nd, and 3rd gear. Actually I didn't really catch until the end of 3rd. Even with all this my 0-60 was still around 5.9. I would of been in the 4s easily, had I had traction. This really made me mad.
Can this be attributed to the 3:73s. Should I go back to my 3:42s. Ok final question. What gear will I be in going through the traps if i put the 3:42s in? 3rd or 4th ?

What kind of tires are you running? Actually, looking at your mods, it doesn't really matter. You're going to have traction problems with any regular radial. Maybe Nittos or BFG's will work, but that's about it. I'd keep the 3.73s and work on traction. The gains that you'll get with the gears, is worth a little traction difficulties. As for your gear question, I couldn't tell you. I haven't raced with a stick shift in years.

Try som suspension Mods, Like som sub fram connectors to stiffen the frame. Then Try some LCA and a better pan hard rod. If you are really concerned with just running the 1/4, 90/10 drag shocks will help a lot. Lets face it your going to have trouble hooking up no matter what you do short of tubbing and running slicks. Though a good start is definately some DOT approved BFGs or Nittos.

You will have to shift into 4th gear at the track right before the finish line. 3rd will be topping out right before then with your rear gear set up. As for traction you will have to look into installing a good posi unit, some drag radials, LCA's and a Panhard Rod. The Panhard Rod and LCA's will get rid of any wheel hop.
As for the rear gear, the 3.73's are a good gear. You will want to keep them over the 3.42's to keep the RPM's high for the boost of the supercharger. If you do run the 3.42's you will be in 3rd gear at the end aof the track. You will not have to shift into 4th at all.

The Gears are not at fault. You have done little to help the suspension out.
Good tires, and Adjustable panhard rod, and boxing the control arms will help her plant.
Subframe connectors will keep the doors opening correctly.
if your still hurtin for traction, put some Lower control arm Lowering brackets on, and some cheaters.
Full slick will shatter the rear sooner rather than later.
