seems slower

My off the line seems to me to be a little slower now that i replaced my K&N single(stock) snorkel scoop with a paper open element assembly.
Does this make sense or am I out to lunch again?:

That sounds about right. Instead of pulling cooler outside air with the snorkel scoop and more-efficient K&N filter, you're now sucking in hotter air from the engine compartment through an air filter that can't flow as much air. As a rule of thumb, horsepower is increased 1% for every 10 degrees of air temperature, so if you've increased your intake air temp 50 degrees, leaved lost 5% of your power, which is 10 horsepower from a 200-horse engine.
