First Circle track race, have some ?'s

My girlfriend (4.6 GT w/Flowmasters & K&N), & I, and a 5.0 Mustang w/ gears, took turns taking a couple of timed laps after donating money to the red cross.
My girlfriend's best time 27.1
My best time 25.7
5.0's best time 27.1

I am pretty realistic... If it was a straight line, either car would smoke me so bad it would be funny. The other cars were both 5-speeds, my question is are they just not that good at driving? or does my car just handle that well? How did I do so much better?

Thanks,
Clint

Everyone wants to compare a f-body to a fox-body. The cars are in no way the same. The f-body is designed better for oval or road course racing. It's just the way the suspension is set up. Even comparing both 5 liter engines isn't the same. The ford has a different bore and stroke producing different power in a different rpm range.

It's not saying that either type of car can be improved to perform in a different type of racing but in stock trim the f-body should beat the fox body on oval or road course.

It has everything to do with driving ability an how familiar you are with the vehicle.

Thanks for the replies. It just intrigued me to beat "faster" cars. I guess they weren't faster that day. I Love my F-Body!
