Got an 87 GTA 350 auto and have some questions...
*I've heard of guys launching at different rpms...is this possible with the auto tranny?
*Do I need to burn the tires a little (I'm running street tires)
*The track I'm going to will be having a street night (just red and green lights)...will this be detrimental to the E/T? Should I ask for a full tree?
*Any good launching tips?
Thanks guys. I'll be going tomorrow, so maybe I can get some good tips before I go. I'll post times too.

1. Yes you can launch at different rpm's, just hold your foot on the brake and raise the rpm's a little. For starters just take off from idle to get a base time.
2. Don't do a burnout on regular street tires. They'll get greasy and have less traction.

Red and green lights? You usually get one or the other
I assume you stage with a red light, and when the light turns green, you both go. If that's the case, it won't affect your ET (as long as everything else is the same as "normal" racing"). It will probably affect your reaction time, though.
As for the burnout, you don't want to smoke the tires, but a quick turning to clean gravel and whatever junk is stuck to/in them is fine.
You can "stall" the engine against the brakes up to the point where the engine won't go any faster. That's probably not the best idea, so doing like Cart says, stalling a little over idle speed, is your best bet. You don't want to spin the tires at the starting line - doing so will slow down your arrival at the finish line.
Let us know exactly how they're doing this "street night", and how you do.
