2017 Updates
Haven't posted on here in awhile, figured I would update everyone. Well after putting the engine together in 2011 I have been running the points series at my local track consistently since 2012. I have finished 4th, 3rd, and 2nd this past year in the points. I am getting closer, but my goal is obviously a track championship. One problem I have had with my car over the years is that it isn't quite as consistent as I would like and I noticed that at the big dollar races these guys cars on alcohol were dead on almost every pass. So, I decided to do a pretty big tear down this winter. I finally decided to take the engine out and go through it this winter and replace the gaskets and check everything over. Surprisingly, everything looked great! After collecting a lot of my slips over the years, I would estimate there was between 600-800 passes on this car.
Anyway, new to 2017, I have switched from pump gas (93 octane) to Alcohol. I replaced my gm HEI distributor with a MSD pro billet. I got rid of my stock gas tank and holley blue pump for a 4 gal front mounted fuel cell, Magnafuel 500 pump, and all fragola line. I also changed to a Pro systems 780 cfm alky carb.
On top of all this I did some re-wring and some changes to the inside of the car. I decided to get rid of the stock gauge cluster and created my own little set up. I also, installed a lean out valve (its an alcohol thing), and then I installed a new switch panel. I also redid a lot of my nitrous wiring and installed it now so that I have it setup on a button to spray down track depending on the race.I think at one point this winter I had almost everything a part on this car so I am just glad to have it back together.
I made my first outing last week at a big dollar race in Kentucky. I made 23 passes on the car in 2 days (all 1/8 mile except 1 pass). Previous fastest was 7.32 in the 1/8 mile on motor and 11.56 on motor in the 1/4. Fastest in the 1/8 this past weekend was 7.05 at 95 mph and the one 1/4 mile pass I got was 11.26 @ 117 mph. I am extremely impressed with this thing and am really shocked at the difference alky made over pump gas. Also, the car so far is a lot more consistent. There are still small bugs I'm fixing, but in the $3,000 race on saturday night I did make it down to 17 cars (About 140 entries). I think it was around 6-7 passes in a row at 7.12. Anyway, thats enough talking here are some pictures...

Re: 2017 Updates
Alcohol is the way to go. Once you get tired of the carb, switch to injection. It's even easier. A Flying Toilet is the simplest way to go. I'll never go back to gasoline or a carb for a race engine.

Re: 2017 Updates
I looked into rons injection pretty heavily, however I did not want to go to a belt driven pump yet as I was unsure if alcohol was going to be 100% what I was after having had 0 experience with it. So I wanted to have it where I could convert back to gas very easily. As of right now, I could change back to gas in 5 minutes. But, the setup outperformed what I had expected and I do not expect to go back to gas anytime soon! I am loving the alky so far, also a side note... Patrick at Pro-Systems nailed it on this carb and I was very impressed with the minor changes I had to make to get this thing sorted out.
Matt - Thanks a lot man, I appreciate that! I have been watching your build closely as well and wish you all of the best at drag week this year! Also, I think your parents are the ones who do Motor Mania TV? But I was able to run an event last year that they did (Kentucky Footbrake Nationals) and have been watching for a couple of years now. What an awesome job they are doing giving us all some sportsman racing to watch!
