92 Bird E/T's
I'm thinking of getting a 91/92 Firebird with a 5.7 TPI. Just wondering what that would run stock, and with some bolt on mods. And what would it take to make it a 12 second car??
stock is likely in the 14.2-14.5 range. 12's are pretty easy with an L98. you will have to take care of soem traction issues first off to deal with teh wheel spin caused by the torquey nature of TPI. soem boxed control arms, control arm relo brackets, a good torque arm(think spohn
), and some drag radials should be able to give you enough hook. a bigger torque convertor will help to launch the car in a better part of the power band, i don't think you will need anything huge, a 2800-3000 shoudl be plenty. a little more gear woudl also help, 3.73's are good for street and strip.
for the power to do it you will prolly wanna look at the tpi board, figure you'll need to get 104-105 mph to get the job done. that is prolly 10-12 more mph than stock.
