New to site
Hello everyone, I'm new to the third gen website and am hoping that this community of people can help me out
I currently have an 89 trans am that was wrecked in '04, and has been sitting in my shop ever since. I'm only 25, and will only be able to buy a few parts at a time, but would really like to begin putting money into this car here soon. I have a ton of questions, everything from which motor to body modifications, suspension, etc. I'm hoping that this can be a community built car, using your opinions.
I would love to have this car pushing 600 hp to the back tires. I plan on doing the whole project over the next few years and having something that is worth the time and money I've invested into it.
My first question is this: Would I be better off to find a same year model/make of my trans am and rebuild the car on a clean title, or will that matter much? Also, I'm looking for a local camaro/firebird club here in the Tri-Cities, Washington. Any help would be great. I look forward to building a great car with your help.

Welcome to the board.
If you don't plan on selling the car it shouldn't matter much. Also depends on how bad the damage to the car is.

Welcome!
As far as rebuild vs buy a different car, I paid 750 for a 89 Firebird with a rather clean body. There are lots of deals like that out there. It may be cheaper to buy a different body then to fix the damaged one.
If you are aiming for 600 HP, imho, a LS series swap would be your best bet. Either or or Force Induction. Put a 4L65E or T-56 behind it, and a 9" or 12 bold rear end to handle the power.
