82Zee28>>>>>>>>>>

Hey Summer! Mark and I are seriously looking into getting a '81 Z28 from a friend, trading his all Chevelle stuff for it. (My dream come true!) Might you know of a good resource to begin looking for information on 2nd gens?

Powerwise, is it's no match for the IROC but we're toying with the idea of putting in his 400 small block in it, so it'll be way fast! I think it's manual transmission, 4 speed.

It's really straight and has all the cowl induction stuff. The tranny is out of it but our friend has the correct one for it....for $500; I want to say it's the THM? Don't quote me on that one, I can't remember what he said excatly. He's got like 18 Camaros sitting on his property, and this is one I've had my eye on since I first saw it 2 years ago. I've finally convinced Mark this would be our car to rebuild together. Right now the Chevelle is all disassembled, just the shell sits on the drive. The '81 is more or less put together, been sitting for a while, but totally restorable. Has more paint (wicked black) on it than the Van Nyes paint on the IROC! LOL

Although Im not Summer, nor do I know alot about sites for 2ndGens, I do know that NastyZ28.com is a really good 2nd gen site.

Keep us updated on the car and stuff!

Sorry gang, guess I should've addressed it to all the Crew...just that Summer has an '82 and thought she might have come across stuff on them while getting parts for hers.

Roshy, you can count on it! I first started to like that generation when my neighbor got one for herself. Her's was yellow and black, but had the distinct late 2nd gen details similar to the 3rd gen which I have come to love about our cars.

I love you guys! That is soo sweet! That's mine and Curtis' favorite thing to do together. Well, almost.

As far as knowing where on the net 2nd gen info can be obtained, I really don't know. If you recall, my cousin has a 2nd gen Camaro (he was there on the 4th of July) and he might know. I'd say if you are looking for parts to check like the Buy & Sell. That's where I found most of the parts cars I needed to accomplish what I have thus far.

Also, if you make a list of the things you need, I'd be more than happy to hit the Pull A Parts looking for what you need.

Is Mark OK parting with the Chevelle? At least he'll be putting that 400 SB to some good use. Might you have pics of the new addition at the gathering on the 15th?

We haven't aquired it yet. Mark's checking what his car would be worth with all the goodies he's looked high and low for. He's had it for like 7 years, and it's not been touched in as many years except to tear out the interior. He's willing to part with it all as long as the '81 Z28 can be built to his specs. Fine with me. I think he's not liking the thought of parting with the 396 BB, though, it may become part of that whole trade.

The guy that has the '81 now was telling us he was putting a quote together for another guy on the same car, but he thinks the other guy won't come thorough on the deal once the total cost is known, which would be for a complete key start-up.

He did say though that other guy was looking for a Chevelle, so we may be able to swing a deal. The tranny is the T-10, supposed to be better than the Saginaw and has the 305. The car has been sitting some time up on a hill and is full of pine needles and moss on the hood. It's not drivable yet and the interior needs to be redone. But the thing is straight as an arrow, never been hit. It's got the Crager wheels too.

The 400 SB is out of his beloved '65 Chev P/U so it's staying in the family.
